Hi
I'm thinking of plunging into the deep delightful pools of SL musicianship - I want to play/sing live in SL and also start experimenting with some home recording. I play flute(s), guitar and sing if pushed, but I have various musical collaborations with other performers that we might be keen to stream live into SL.
So introduction over my question is - I find I need a mixer/USB interface, was about to buy something like the EMU 0202 Usb interface to get started, but I've been loaned a ZOOM H4 mobile flash recorder. It turns out that this can also act as a USB interface/preamp, but has the advantage that it can be used at live sessions too. So - has anyone used one for this purpose, or got any other thoughts?
Thanks

Hey Richard. I'm no expert in sound engineering or audio technology, but...
.. i was curious and checked out the Zoom unit you mentioned.
I think it would be more than enough to stream music into SL. I've heard some people sing in SL using only a built in laptop microphone.
You would probably want one or two mics (one for voice, and one for your guitar -- if it's an acoustic guitar).
There is no limit to what gear you could buy / get to play in SL. But if you already have that, I would say it's perfect for your needs to try it out. There's always time to buy more gear later.... |
