Nice read. And it touches on why us Born Again Pagans prefer to do tips only shows.

I logged in one morning (local time) .. around 4am SLT, and there was a group of Australian musicians busking on an Australian themed SIM.
Except they were using an actual stream instead of voice.
I thought it was brilliant to call it busking. One thing it does right away is let everyone know that this is a 'tips only' gig. It is a great word to accurately define the scenario. |

Busking to pay the rent and to be able to tip fellow musicians. That, IMHO, is the way to go. Gotta admit though that I might be slightly biased, running a venue and touring the grid at the same time. _________________ blog | the sixtyone

Great article from Allanah.
I have been Busking on SL since Voice first came out in Beta. We formed a Group called SL Buskers now with about 40 members.
SL Buskers aim to not only Busk alone, but for Buskers to unite and JAM online. I only play flute, so my rep gets a little boring after a while playing alone, but coupled with a guitar or a piano , percusion etc, I have had some really excellent jams with some really talented musicians.
It continues to surprise me how slow Busking has been to take hold in SL?
SL Buskers encourages members to organise events and for the more talented to mentor others in an ad-lib way.
I tend to use Pooley Stage as it has no real restrictions... and oh yes, the tip jar is always on my back, hehe:)) _________________ EdTime |

I have been interested in this for a while, and have been meaning to 'hit the road' and do some busking in SL. The idea of sitting on some corner playing through voice is quite appealing. Not from the sound quality point of view...but it certainly takes people out of the comfort zone of a venue with supportive people, groupies, and management. I am sure buskers have a whole different set of 'griefing' possibilities to contend with lol. _________________ TC |

Norris.....they call it busking, but really they are planning world domination. You have to watch those sneaky australians. _________________ TC |

sheesh... yes Tommy. Aussies disguise themselves as these passive easy to get along with blokes... but i always suspected a darker side.
I have to deal with a few crazy Aussies at my shows from time to time. lol. I even talked about the drought in Australia the other day at my show.
Buddy from Australia i play cards with here in Canada... first time i met him, he walks into the house with 24 beer, a pint of rum, and some other wine/liqueure stuff. and that was only for HIM. ... and we were only planning on playing for 4 hours or so.... my suspicions started at that point! |
