Well, THIS is where everyone is hiding! I see so many names I recognise... HEY EVERYONE *waves*
So. A little about me and why I'm here. I've been in SL since August 2006, so pretty old I guess. In all that time I have been predominantly interested in the music and have made some very good friends through the music scene.
A lot of people know me, or have seen me around... I'm usually the loud, gobby one heckling people and causing my own particular brand of trouble! I took a break for a couple of months, but am now back and enjoying it just as much as before. It's also great to see some new faces around. I love discovering new music. I am a huge advocate of live music and try and support musicians and venues alike.
Anyway, a friend recently offered me an opportunity that I found too good to resist. He built a beautiful new venue on his sim and asked me if I would consider running it for him. At first the thought terrified me, but then I thought 'hey I know people, I love music, what's the worst that can happen?'
And so The Lost Continent was born. I'm hoping to run shows every weekend, and some mid-week, around the times of 1 slt to 4 or 5 slt at weekends. I'm UK based so probably turn into a pumpkin if I stay up much after that. But I have a merry band of helpers so if anyone wants a particularly late show, we can probably accommodate it. I am nothing if not flexible!
SO..... If anyone is interested in playing, I'd love to hear from you. The club has a dedicated group, and because it's on a very nice residential island, there is a pretty much captive audience! They are also very supportive and are all keen to get music on our island.
It's a non-profit venue - we are running it because we love music and want to spread the word to people who haven't yet discovered it - and so we are looking for musicians who will play for 100% tips only. I am but a lowly, poor manager, sad to say... lol... and realise that a lot of musicians do charge a fee. But hey, I'm upfront about it and if people are still interested in playing that is fantastic. If not, well hey, I'll still come see you but I might just yell a bit louder
I hope that The Lost Contintent will establish itself as a friendly, relaxed place for people to come and hang out, and get to listen to some of the best live music in SL. I'm enjoying it so far. But then it's early days yet... lol
I'd love to see you guys there... playing or visiting, so if I don't already know you, drop me an IM or a notecard or an email (so many choices). If not, you will probably see me in and around SL, stalking, errr supporting, my friends!

Woooot!!! Heya Dru!! It's great to see you here and to hear that you're back and involved in music again!! Be sure to wander around the forum here and soak in the great information that's available and add your own two lindies where ever you have something to offer (knowing you, that two lindies will be worth a whole lot).
As for playing at your new venue, you don't even wanna hear me try to perform, but contact me inworld. I'll hook you up with with some great talent that will be happy to play for tips at the sort venue you describe!! _________________ Joy is in the ears that hear

Druuuuuuuuu!~!~~ ah missed you while you were gone, and was GREAT to see you at some gigs this past week or so. Good luck on your venue, you will do a FAB job running it, always great to see someone from the fan side of SL music take a stab at a venture like that ... 'cause I know the audience experience will benefit from your multitudes of gig attendings. and the artists will also be well taken care of and have a venue with a great vibe to play at _________________ Bourque Rau |
