|
|
It is time we all use a format for posting events in this section.
Posting things like "I'm performing now... hurry" doesn't work.
New Format for the SUBJECT line:
and please feel to go your own fancy way... doesn't all have to be slashes
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
One-Off Event:
DAY/DATE/TIME / PERFORMER OR EVENT
example: FRI 32nd 4pm - Poo Flinging Competition
--- If you post the info days in advance and notice your event thread has moved down, you may 'bump' your thread back to the top on the day of the event
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Weekly Event or Reoccurring:
DAY / TIME / PERFORMER OR EVENT
example: MONDAYS - 4pm - Poo Flinging with Mr. Flingpoo
--- you may choose to continue to use this same thread and then each week promote the upcoming party on that same thread. Only create a new thread for a weekly if a majority of information about the event changes.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
A Performer or Venue Posting their Upcoming Schedule:
DATE RANGE / PERFORMER(s) OR EVENT(s)
example: April Performances of Mr. Poofling
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
If an event has been postponed or cancelled:
You may want to delete the entire post, but you also may want to leave the post up, but change the SUBJECT heading to say "postponed" or "cancelled" ...if you need this done, please PM me.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Thank you everyone for following the new format. Posting an event with the Subject not containing the date and time is a pointless post.
It's not like we're going to be strict about this, but if everyone follows the format, it'll be more effective, and easier to read for everyone. _________________ DJ Doubledown on The Sixty-One ~ SL DJ & Club Scene Blog

Please only do ONE post for a given day and include all your shows for that day in that one post.
This heading is not intended as an alternate for the event listings in world, lets not let it get so cluttered as the in world event listings. _________________ Joy is in the ears that hear

I would like to make two minor suggestions:
a) Given the time zone differences with folks translating SLT to their own rl time in their heads, I think it would be better if SLT was expressed using the 24 hour clock
b) Given the cultural diffs for expressing day and date (is 06/05 the 6th of May or the 5th of June?) I think it would be clearer to express months using the three-letter system (JAN, FEB, MAR, APR, MAY, JUN, JUL, AUG, SEP, OCT, NOV, DEC)
Apologies for the anally retentive nature of this post _________________ Real life website http://www.lewismusic.co.uk |

both suggestions right on. Personally, I never even speak anything other than SLT... (I still don't get why some people thing I would be talking in relation to their timezone, the timezone I have no idea about and the one I'm not living in)
And yes, google spiders love months and days of the week.
In relation to all promotion with basically anything:
Day, Month, Date, Year, Time
Obviously if you leave out time, month, date, you're screwed.
day & year studies have shown to be better with than without (I read dumb 'how-to-advertise' articles a lot so that's where I got that info) _________________ DJ Doubledown on The Sixty-One ~ SL DJ & Club Scene Blog

Now that is a brave quest, trying to convince the awemighty Lindens (may their paths be covered in the sweetest smelling rose petals) to start using a 24 hour clock instead of the AM/PM one.
Nuff rEpSEtC! And may The Force be with thee!
