Sorry... probably posting this in the wrong forum... oops.

Ya know... it's a pain to hunt for musical instruments, mics, drums, pianos...
It's just a pain.  Maybe I hate SL shopping (I do!), or maybe I'm lazy. (I am!)

But some enterprising soul should build a music mall.

Setup a mall, rent out stores to the various existing instrument makers.
Throw a couple stages in there too, host gigs and open mics.  And/or leave streams open to busking in smaller parcels.
Have the SLCD stores in there too.

I'd do it... but as I mentioned before... I'm lazy.  Anyone has my permission to steal this idea and make shopping easier for me. :p  hahaha

But seriously... there's that animation mall.  It seems pretty cool.  Tough to find good animations.  Be nice if there were more malls that catered to specific needs to centralize things.  That animation mall is nice because it's 1 place I can go to look for cool stuff.  Then hit the mainstore if they have things I like.

I think this is one of the huge inherit failures of SL.  It is too difficult to find stuff.  (Not just shopping... anything - just stuff to do).  There's just too much of everything all spread out all over the place.  It's like a set of unorganized filing cabinets.  Tons of stuff in there... just don't know where to look.

This is SO true . . . it's total overload.  But as I think back on my earliest Internet experiences, pre-google, it was exactly the same.  Some smart person is going to come up with a similiar solution AND a way to get word out that they exist so everyon can 'sign up'.  Because that's the other side of this coin, how do you get information like that out to the folks who need it?

/me points to the Forum mission . . . .that's why we have this forum, it's an attempt to centralize information on where to go for just this sort of thing.  But how to get word out to all the instrument makers that they can come and post an advert here?  Well, first ya gotta find them.  Hmmm, I just got the strangest craving for chicken and eggs.

I agree with the premise.  And have had three malls.  Man, have you tried to find merchants for a mall?  Or try to manage the promotions and activities?

It was way too much for me and even one of my friends.  Merchants don't want to rent if you don't have a traffic history.  And, trying to get the word out that you exist and can be a ton of fun is just the pits ... a full time job that doesn't often pay off.

But, people have made it work for certain things: animations, landscape supplies, and the general takeoff on Home Depot.  That's because they get the traffic or pays their money so it bubbles to the top of the search list.

And, there is always Menorca.  Slim, Dimi and others have put lots of work into doing something like that ... just not a mall ... thought I think there were some shops on the last build.
