|
|
UPDATE!! The info initially posted below is out of date:
WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Well would ya look at that!
As luck would have it, I was asked to gather the performers for
SL BIRTHDAY 2008
8 days
AND YES the SECOND LIFE MUSIC COMMUNITY WILL BE REPRESENTED
4 stages - music 24/7 for 8 days!
.... so, if you've ever complained in the past 'how come LL doesn't ask me to play at the birthday' ... or ... 'how come the music in SL is never represented well'
---- this year is the one... this year is the year we do it right and exceptionally.
here it is: Want to perform?!?!?!?!?
it's the 3rd week of June through 1st week of July.
No timeslots have been filled. Right now, I'm gathering all the names of people that want to perform. musicians, DJs, singers, bands
Please note, I am not in charge of the lineup or the scheduling. I am the liason between LL, the birthday event, and the Second Life Music Community. So, I'm going to drop of my handful of interested names to them, and they will continue from there by contacting you for your info and time, etc. Slim, Ticious, Sally, Bibi, Mimi, EVERYBODY... get ready, cause the SLBDAY2008 is going to be exactly how we'd like it to be this year.
IMPORTANT: This is the thread which I will use to send all performers to... and REPLY on this thread if you are interested in playing.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm confused, Moira somebody (I forget the actual name, but on the blog she's listed as coordinating the music for this) contacted me a few weeks ago and I responded back to her but haven't heard anything more.
Are you taking over for her or is this something else?
Anyway, I sent her bios for Nad Gough, Micki Underwood, Norris Shepherd, Al Hofmann, excape Hax and DimiVan Ludwig. I'd like to put all their names in the hat. You can get with either me or Woodstock Burliegh to get all of them in the calendar.
Edited to add performance hours and bios for Spotlight musicians. Contact me or Woody for scheduling.
Nad Gough, USA, noon to 7pm, maximum set 3 hours (prefer 2 or less)
Through his multi-instrument arrangements, Nad Gough gives second life to songs you love by The Beatles, Moody Blues, Van Morrison, Elvis, Stones, Pretenders and lots more! His tender and poetic original songwriting will touch your heart. Nad sings to CD quality backing tracks which he lovingly and painstakingly creates on his computer using hi tech sound and software.
The music is always only half the fun! Come and experience Second Life through the unpredictable mind of Nad. And stuff.
Al Hofmann, Netherlands, 8am to 6pm most days, max set 2 hours
Al was born in Buenos Aires, (Argentina), in a family of musicians, and started to play the guitar at the age of eight. At present he is gigging around performing material from his latest CD "The signs are everywhere" in which he introduces his Midi guitar playing and multilayered system, where different instruments can be recorded in real time and played at the same time on the principal of accumulating musical phrases in a loop device. A new approach to the "One man band"concept.
Micki Underwood, USA, check times, max 1 hour set
Lady Lead Gutiarist who plays originals, blues, and classic rock from the 70's & 80's
A little heavier...
A little less polite...
A whole lot of fun!
Quick, warn the neighbors...
Micki Underwood is the avatar of "Rock'n Michelle". She has been playing music since age 8 (keyboards) and electric guitar since age 13. She currently performs in the Seattle area as "Rock'n Michelle".
DimiVan Ludwig, USA, weekends 11am to 7pm, max 1 hour set
Dimi brought The Hummingbird Cafe with him from another computer program. The Hummingbird hosts the first and longest continuously running open mic in Second Life and has been the starting point for many of SL's musicians.
DimiVan Ludwig, aka Chris Harlow, will be coming to us live from his studio in Indianapolis. Taught guitar at an early age by his father, Dimi played professionally for over 20 years before he retired.
DimiVan Ludwig, aka Chris Harlow, has been surrounded by music all his life. Indianapolis, Indiana, born and raised, the multitalented musician started playing the ukelele at the age of three, progressing to trumpet, piano, drums, and, in his teens, the guitar, which he jokingly says is "because it was easier to pick up girls around the bonfire with a guitar than with a set of drums."
Norris Shepherd, Canada, 4-8pm weekdays, 6am-9pm weekends, max set 1 hour
A Canadian farm boy armed with an acoustic guitar, his voice, and the occasional bottle of homemade wine. He draws from an ecclectic collection of songs including folk, pop/rock, canadian indie and alternative. A few originals from a former life might also make their way into the shows.
Radiohead, U2, Tragically Hip, Simon and Garfunkel, etc...
ezcape Hax, USA, 4pm-8pm weekdays, 6am-9pm weekends, max set 2 hours
ezcape (EZ) Hax is a singer/songwriter based in Chicago, IL. EZ learned to play piano as a child but his musical career really took off many years later when he learned to play guitar in 1994. Evenutally, EZ came to think of his voice as his favorite instrument and the singer/songwriter we now know was born. Today, he describes himself as a singer, who just happens to play guitar. The passion with which he performs belies this humble statement as can often be seen as he simulcasts live video of his performances on his website during his shows.
EZ's style is a combination of popular rock, with a little R&B mixed in and he lists Pearl Jam, Bush, STP and Lifehouse as being among his influences. _________________ Joy is in the ears that hear
