This past weekend, Rocky Shores and Cascadia had the honor as serving as the primary venue for the The JAM 2007, the first annual End of Summer JAM.
The JAM 2007 included the presetation of 30 hours of continuous music streamed over four venues (Rocky Shores, the Junkyard Blues Club, Strat's Place and Moonshine Clothing) and was broadcast in its entirety over RadioMaxx.net. Between the venues and the broadcast, this event was attended by thousands!!! There were also vendors selling a wide variety of goods, two fashion shows, a raffle with six awesome prizes (congrats all you lucky winners) and a fireworks show hosted by a tearful organizor to cap off what was without a doubt the longest, proudest and most exciting weekend of my second life!!
This event came off virtually without a hitch (two sim crashes, one dog-bitten artist who had to cancel and a Sunday afternoon visit from the lag monster). There were no grief attacks, hand off from performer to performer was nearly seamless and dj fans intermingled freely with musician fans and lots of new friendships and fanships were created.
As a minor side note, approximately 600,000 lindens were raised for Relay for Life and the Mulitple Sclerosis Society.
The JAM 2007 was the smoothest, most well organized and most positive marathon event I've ever attended or been involved in in Second Life due primarily to the backbreaking efforts of Strat Octavia, Fiery Odegaard, Tank Broadbent and a cast of thousands (well, half a dozen anyway) over the course of the past two months. If Strat ever wakes up, he deserves a hearty round of applause for pulling this motley crew together and making us march in step all the way to the finish line!!!! _________________ Joy is in the ears that hear
