NICECAST SETTINGS/SETUP for STREAMING

Open Up Nicecast.

On the Nicecast broadcast box you will see several tabs. Source, Info, Quality, Share and Effects. Click on Source to start:
Underneath that you will see Application. The default choice will be iTunes.
click on the  bottom right hand tab called select.
Now from here you can choose the application you wish to use to stream in with. This can be either Garageband, Logic, Pro-tools or other programme. I find Garageband is the easiest to set up and use.

So assuming you are going to use GB  select that  and that becomes your default output application.
Then click the Advanced tab next to that and choose Hijack ALL  Audio streams. This  will pick up everything to feed out.

Quality Tab settings:
you can set this to any. The usual to start is probably at   96 for Bitrate. you can always change this to a higher setting. set the sample rate to 44.100khz ( using the drop down menu) and channels to Stereo. Keep the CPU usage to around midway.

For now I'd leave the  Effects settings. I will write up a more comprehensive article on Nicecast for the Wiki that Luke has, explaining the  other tabs etc.

So now you are set up for Nicecast to stream.
You will then need to open up Garageband and enable a vocal track. You can load ALL your backing tracks in GB beforehand. ( make sure to mute each one that you are not using or they will all play together ( hideous and yes I have done that accidently too)
Make sure on the vocal track ( which is what you will use to sing on that MONITOR is on. ( set all your vocal effects that you want to use beforehand.

If you have  stream/server details  then you will now need to fill this in.

Go to the top menu of Nicecast. and choose SHOW SERVER under the  window tab. you will see another box come up with a side tabbed box. That will show Built in server. Yuu need to click the ADD sign at the bottom to enter new details and fill in as required.
Your built in server on your computer will probably only handle up to about 5-8 users maximum so best to use a proper server. Most venues  in Sl will provide you with free use of a stream for a show in which case you get the details from them. Once you have done that then remember to click the small blue circle next to the new details you have entered
(Name the Server) Nicecast will remember all the settings for each new server you use so you only need to enter it once.

Then all you will need to do is return to the Nicecast Broadcast box and hit  Start Broadcast and you are  ready to go.

Remember also to place the URL in your  about land settings ( media) Do NOT use the end part ( listen:m3u)

Any of us are usually about to help you soundcheck and help you find the best quality of sound when you stream in so please don't hesitate to ask..
its  vitally important to do a few soundchecks and run throughs  with someone experienced before  you start gigging in SL and there are plenty of us!.

Make sure to turn off the sound in SL  as it feeds back into your mic and always use headphones. Also be aware that there is a latency ( delay )  of anything between 15-30 seconds from when you  sing  and when people in SL will hear you.
