A bird has flown the coop ... just outside :)Hi!
I want to say hi and to let you know I've been trawling this excellent forum for a while now to 'get up to speed' before making this introduction, and that I feel like I know everyone of you, whilst most of you won't know me.
It's a truly inspiring website of exchanges, info and community spirit... and I hope to contribute to it more regularly soon too!
The Rest Is History
I’m a singer-songwriter, born and bred in Singapore and living now in the UK.
Like most folks I’m sure, I first dipped into Second Life incognito under another account, and have been amazed and astounded by the endless opportunities for all sorts of activities, some of which need no mentioning... a right of passage perhaps for the newbie? Which is why my kids keep well away on their own accord! And really they’re only interested in wearing my Ulthanian lava dragon AV flying majestically through the skies breathing fire! And yet I know even I have only really explored the tip on the tip of the iceberg.
Of course I’d also heard before that there’s a live music scene… and the rest is as they say…
To Infinity and Beyond!
I’ve now met a few of you who have been true Stars! Helping me a great deal, and hence ladies and gentlemen I cannot thank you enough… and therefore want to mention you here:
Thank you, from the ViBe, Bratt for helping me with the initial sound check, Lucius who’s going to help with more! From Rockyshores Ticious who’s put me in touch with several musician-venue owners. Quinton and Suka for saying hi and adding me - I’m hoping to play with them soon at Cuddlers Cove! Serene, Circe and Vince for being the first points of contact with the music scene and providing info on the howtos of setting up for webstreaming. I’m also looking forward to playing with them at Circe’s Circle! A great big thank you and hug to my close friend, and extremely talented poet Surazeus Thor (I don’t think he’s a member of this forum, yet!) without whose persistence I would have procrastinated even more about getting this going, and Kiaranna Flanagan whose own musical aspirations and friendship on SL have spurred me on. And last but not least (feels like I'm giving a Grammy's speech - hee hee... /me sings "One day it will happen One day it will all come true" (Bjork)), to everyone here whose contribution on the forum has helped increase my knowledge and learning from rig to gig!
Finally…
The long and short of it, I’m excited to be debuting at The ViBe HQ on Friday 2 May at 2 pm SLT/PDT.
I'd be most honoured to see you there!
Warmest wishes,
Phoe Nix (on SL) aka Phoenix J

Thankx Babble! I'll look out for you! BTW, your post on PC Vol control set up has been very helpful. Though I use the Mac for music making on Logic, I surf the web on PC... so that's where i am right now!

Well, Phoe ... I could only stay a while today because I was at work. But, you have the voice of an angel and a wonderful presence. *sigh* just wish I could hear more than 20 minutes.
I hope you got tips through ... SL wa pretty borked. At least the TPs seemed to work, so people could come hear you.
Hope to catch you again. Thanks

I'm glad it was helpful ... that was a big stumbling block for me when I got started. It's funny - I just purchased my dream rig a few days ago (Mbox2 bundle) and it's like I'm starting all over again, without a clue as to how to get this thing to stream. LOL
SAM Broadcaster is not exactly user-friendly.

My rig:
Korg stage piano SP200
Shure SM58
Behringer UB1002FX
Simplecast
I've done 2 full SL sets now and no probs with the free version of the very user-friendly Simplecast yet!

Welcome Phoenix, hope you find Second Life as great an experience as I have. I spent a fair amount of time in Singapore several years ago and did a fair amount of work on the "Festivals of Singapore" exhibit on Sentosa island. I have many fond memories of being in such a cultural hub with all of those influences swirling around me.

Hey Ka-klick, thanks for your welcome... The face of Singapore changes every year I return, it's difficult to keep up! Sentosa island used to run a water theme park called Fantasy Island (I don't know if it was still running when you were there) and I did the jingle for their TV ad waaay back! Hope you enjoyed your stay there... and enjoyed in particular the food and seafood!! I don't ever cook when I return for short visits... just thinking about it makes my mouth water... What were you working on at the festivals?

Festivals of Singapore was a multimedia walk-through theatre that had Animatronics, sound, lights, static figures, etc. I did all the show control and animatronics programming. It was initially installed in 1994 so may be long gone by now.
I know what you mean about the food Some particular favorites I can recall were the "Banana Leaf Apollo" (Indian), Hawker center Roti Prata for breakfast (hope I spelled that right) and just about anything Chinese I ate there. I believe it was also my first taste of Thai Tom Yum soup at a hawker center... I could go on - about my only disappointments came when trying to get western food while I was there - Eggs should not be fried in fish oil (at least for me).
Then again there was durian <shudders>

Oooo i sooo love and miss durian! They taste like heaven smell like hell, and can stink up the place for a few days after... In 1994 I was still living in Singapore... it sounded like a show called PALA which was a pro-audio show held for a few years in Singapore around that time.

Re: A bird has flown the coop... just outside :)Hi folks!
It's been a while since I posted here... though I've been lurking when I can in these forums and have enjoyed reading juicy thoughts and opines.
It's been a fun journey for me... I've tested and swum the waters, tasted (almost) failures and much successes, have even gone overboard and burnt out in a month... and now I've come full circle, crashing back down to earth, to be in a calm baby-rock-a-by place. I have learnt to balance my SL with my RL...
Now I will be gathering up my energies to begin another year.
This thread first announced my SL debut a year ago on 2 May... It's that time of the next year! And I'll be ushering in year 2 at the new Pocket at midnight this Sat.
Come celebrate with me there.. or here!
Warmest wishes to everyone and thank you for a wonderfully fab year!
