Ableton adviceDoes anyone use this application to stream live music into SL? I have it working using Live as a master and REaper as a slave, but have to run reaper for the audio tracks for the instruments, using live as a triggering device for the drums and for sound effects. (I use lots of speeches and such in my music)
The problem is, I am using guitar rig for the stick and guitar, and have found no way to change patch settings during the songs. In live, I was able to assign my midi controller to do so.
So is there a way to change patches in reaper, or to have live instrument inputs stream out of live into reaper?

I don't know of any way to send patch changes to Guitar Rig and other problems with the program finally convinced me to dump it and go back to stompboxes. Digitech guitar stompboxes respond to MIDI so that may be a relatively inexpensive solution.

Actually I was able to do it in Live. My band is currently sans drummer, and a few weeks ago we played a RL fund raiser for www.thepeacealliance.org I brought out the computer, with all my drum samples programmed in live, and all the guitar channels running guitar Rig as VSTs. I programmed my Behringer FCB 1010 to send patch changes thru ableton to control GR, but have yet to figure out how to do it in reaper.
I am currently leaning towards running a second computer. Run all my audio on the main one, and send the master outs into the soundcard of the second one, which will then stream the audio in world.
The digitech boxes may be an idea as well. It may allow me more control over the sound on the fly so to speak. the big drawback to running GR thru ableton was I was pretty much limited to 3 sounds on the melody side of the stick, and one on the bass side. Granted, my guitarist has a larger pallette of sounds than I do, and since my role is more rhythm, and only some lead work, it's not so bad.
I had Line6 Pods and controllers that I could have used, but lost them to burglars a few months ago.

On the topic of sound modification alone, check out a Boss GT10 and it absolutely smokes Guitar Rig and is vastly easier to use than a Pod. (I was using GR v3 and I found each new release was noiser than the one before it.)

The Boss GT series is a nice sounding, and very flexible unit. My problem is, playing the Chapman Stick, a stereo instrument, means I need twice the processing, thus twice the cost. now the new Pod Xt series offers stereo processing, and I have been considering it. Maybe the GT 10 does as well? I guess I need to look into it.
I also like the fact that with software processing I can change the sounds after they are recorded. Granted that limits me when streaming inworld.
And honestly, since the stick is not a guitar, or bass, what works on those instruments, does not always work on the stick.

I've not checked for stereo on the GT10 but it wouldn't surprise me if it has the capability.
It's cool that you can change sounds on a track after recording when you use GR but the drawback is that you'll probably be forced to it when you upgrade. Maybe it's just me but I never successfully carried forward GR patches from one release to the next so I've got zillions of tunes I need to re-record and you bet I won't do it with GR.

I checked the GT10 site and no stereo inputs, so it's looking like guitar rig is staying at least for now. a Pod XT would lower the amount of resources I use on my computer. But it's a pretty healthy system and can actually run all my plug ins, in live, reaper, stream the audio, and run SL.
As for migrating GR patches, I never had a problem when migrating. I simply copied my patches in GR2 and pasted them in the proper folder in GR3 and restarted it.

I'd copy 'em but they wouldn't sound the same. Anyway, it'll be interesting to hear your set in-world.
