Call me Addy. ;)

Well , hello.  I’m looking forward to joining the conversation here.  With the exception of a  naked farmer or two, it looks like an intelligent bunch.

A friend of mine sent me a link to a post in the Mac Users thread about how to use Nicecast and Garageband, and I’ve been both thankful and poking around, reading  posts here and there ever since.  My next post will be in response to Slim Warrior’s, thanking her profusely, but I’ll do it here too because it helped me TREMENDOUSLY.

Anywho....  I’ve been an avid SL Live Music fan for a while now, and although I’ve been thinking about streaming myself since I found live music, I didn’t think I’d give it a go until the summertime when RL time frees up a bit for me.  Well, summer isn’t here yet, but I decided to get started early.   Smile  I’ve been singing inworld for a couple weeks now, and as with all worthwhile endeavors, there’s a bit more work and a few more details involved than I thought there would be!  (Do I really need a fancy picture??...  How do I create a landmark from scratch...?)  In my RL, I multi-task and attend to details  seamlessly......  In SL, I sometimes don’t know my ass from my elbow.

However.... I have some really great friends who always point me in the right direction.  (Addy, you’re still in the audience....  Um, Addison....  You’re not wearing any clothes.)    And as far as getting up onstage and getting the stream going and sounding strong-  I think I’ve got the basics down pretty well so far,  but I’m still learning how to make all of that work better....     it’ll come.

Why am I doing this?  Well, I’ve always loved  to sing.   My singing background is really in Musical Theatre, but I’ve always wanted to perform other types of songs.  I love poetry.  I like interpreting the lyrics and musicality of a song as a living piece of poetry.   (Would anyone care from some cheese?  I know, I know.... but it’s authentic.)  I like sharing all of that with other people.  Even just one person.  My favorite “gigs”?   The last minute, let’s hang out and share some tunes for the hell of it kind.

I really didn’t mean to write so much.  Must be the English teacher in me.  I’m looking forward to talking with you all!!
HUGS,
Addy

Welcome, Addy, and if you need any more help getting set up, some naked farmer might be able to answer your question. I, too, look forward to hearing you sing. Smile

I'm gonna guess there's been plenty of times in RL that you didn't know your ass from your elbow, too  Wink .  The lesson in SL is the same as RL.  Look to your friends/peers for guidance, don't be afraid to make mistakes and ALWAYS laugh about them after.

Don't believe me?  Ask Lyn Carlberg to tell you how he met his soon to be blushing bride  Laughing !!!!

Welcome to the forum!!!!

..now c'mon, even naked farmers can be helpful some time.

For those who haven't heard Addison yet, you should.  I'm not sure how she does it, but she manages to sing using only Garage Band and her built in laptop microphone (unless she is lyin' ta me)... and she sounds AWESOME!

Sweet voice, great pitch, and a real sweetie.  The crowd seems to be filling up more and more with mostly men for some reason.....  It could be the time she flashed the crowd trying to get her overalls on.

how are the calluses on the fingers coming?  She 'claims' she is learning guitar....

That sounded a bit snotty, huh?  lol
Oh, there are plenty of times that happens to me in RL too.... it just seems to happen to me in SL a little more often is all.  I love laughing at myself and get to do so pretty frequently!  It's great fun.  Wink

Why is Norris accusing me of lying?  Just my little 'ol macbook.  That's it... so far.....  The calluses are getting rougher, but that C chord is still being a little bitch.  Can I say that on here?  Too late.  It's a shame about the fingernails though....   What's a girl to do?  I should probably cut the ones on my right hand one of these days.....

Thanks Norris.  I always go outta my way to flash the crowd at your shows.  Those overalls are hard to get on.  Wink

Hmmm, am I smelling an ulterior motive in Norris handing out those overalls?   Twisted Evil

Hi, Addison ...err .. Addy ... and welcome  Very Happy

I'm looking forward to catching one of your shows sometime!

It doesn't surprise me about GarageBand as it's stunning what you can do with that software and even more so that it doesn't cost a dime.  The amazing part to me is the built-in mike for the laptop!

I'm not a native Rhodie??  roadie??  whatever it is one calls Rhode Island residents ... and there are others performing in SL as well.  How about that for amazing too - lol

Haven't you heard?  Norris is a dirty old man.

Silas-  I'm not native either.  Upstate New York and Kentucky mostly.  Gotta love that ocean, though.  Wink

I had an apartment in Portsmouth that overlooked the bay, highest point on the island (I think) and it was too gorgeous!  I can't even see it where I am now - lol

I grew up in Upstate NY, too  Laughing  ... in about a 100 mile radius around Utica .. and a couple of years in Syracuse.  Poughkeepsie's the homestead, though.

Ocean?  We always summer tripped it to the Outer Banks in NC.  Looked forward to that every year ... even though we camped ... my brother and I had to sleep in the wagon.  But, as the tourists increased, the sand fleas decreased ... and I followed the sand fleas elsewhere.  *sigh*

Minnesota has no ocean.  But, it's got one hell of a big lake!   Wink

Thanks for the warm wishes!

I appreciate all the hellos!  Nice to meet you all!!

Ray-  it was super cool to see you last night.  Thanks for having a listen!  Wink  I will definitely catch a show of yours sooner rather than later.  I love upstate New York....  I worked on a parasailing raft taking pictures one summer in Lake George.

Silas-  I can't see the ocean either.... but it's only 20 minutes away!  Isn't everything?

Fable-  I flipping love you.  It is with the utmost sincerity when I tell you that after five seconds of being at a show of yours, I feel absolutely giddy.  You have a gift...  and I still want to have your babies.

HUGS to all of you!  So happy to meet and chat with ya.

Wow! This lady sure can sing! She was in the audience on Saturday and stepped right up to the mic like she'd been doing this in SL for years!

And Norris....LEAVE HER BE! lol

Haha....this just confirms my "Addison and I are in separate realities living the same life" in some weird space-time continuum thing.  I'm learning the guitar, too -- and don't worry...the C-chord will come...just keep practicing . Smile  Strumming is what's killing me...I suck at it! LOL

Welcome and enjoy your newfound SL career! Smile

Loved your show at Cuddlers, Addy. Folks, you've gotta hear this woman sing!
