Doubledown's Sooper Dooper Tip #2 - Getting People Involved

(This is an old post of mine. The timeframe I was speaking of was around December of 2006.)

I think the most successful projects are joint projects and collaborations. Just about everything I do is a group effort. Examples:

Last week (actually close to a year ago): I threw the SL instructor appreciation party. I wanted it at a SL school. So there was me, the head of TUI, the TUI instructors, staff, and students, several lindens, all the live musicians.

tonight (close to a year ago): I DJed at art gallery exhibition. There was the land owner, the gallery builder, the exhibition currator, the artist, myself for the music, and the SL artist community... all supporting one another.

Dec 23rd (last year): I'm throwing a 10 hour rave. It came about because i was hanging out chatting with another DJ and electronic music fan. We got to talking, and suddenly we were in the mix of planning this large event. Now we have over 10 performers, the land owner, the decorators, the dj community, and the electronic music community.. all supporting one another.

..... given, the things i do are event related, however, any project whatsoever can be collaborative. I think it's monumentally important.

Here is my best piece of knowledge (and this works in real life too).... It's called having an enrolling conversation to create possibilities.
...Instead of running around saying "hey people i have an idea, who wants to help".... it works better having conversations with like-minded people and other people that share your interests are more inclined to jump on board with an 'enrolling conversation' It is a conversation which enrolls them into becoming involved in what you want to do. Other people get excited when you can express and convey your excitement in your own idea... once you get a few people involved and also excited, it's infectious, and more and more people will want to come on board.

....the other great reason for many people involved is because many people know many people.... but if its only you, then only the people you know will know.

So, my point is, don't just run around trying to promote. Actually enthrall people, get them excited too about this new project in your life. They will want to join forces and you've now enrolled them.
