Greetings

hi all, Crunch here. i run a small steampunk themed sim with a Tavern that i occasionally hold live gigs at (a search for Laputa will bring it up, were on just over qtr of a sim and the '10 bells tavern' is to the left). i'm happy i came across this site on the user forums as i would really like to change my place and focus more on the tavern and live music (and less on the rentals which i hate running). Iv already read the article about how to better run a venue. great thread and i'v learnt alot, especially the reduction of lag, odd that i did not think of that. We have Grif playing this saturday at 8PM if any of you would like to come along and have a look at the place that would be great.

I also play guitar, i have a semi-accoustic that i'v been learning on for almost 2 years and i'm slowly getting better (need more practice time and less SL time) and i'v got my eye on an electric i'll be buying very soon (its my birthday next week you know Razz). i love blues, jazz and progressive rock and metal. mostly i am stuck playing much more popular songs but i'll get there Smile

Being Australian i don't see many live gigs being performed, either that or i'm looking in the wrong places. i'v heard of places that hold open mic nights. I would love to run something like this at an australian friendly time and see who i can get wriggle out of the woodwork.

well now that i'v told you my life story (ahem ... sorry for the long post) i'll get back to reading the forums. If anyone out there has some tips for me, i would love to hear them. thank you all

Great to meet you Crunch!!  There are a goodly number of Australians around, so I'm sure if you run shows at Aussie friendly times, you'll do well.  Certainly the best of luck to you!!

Hi Crunch...welcome

I am in WA - and while there are not LOTS of events happening in our evening, there are some - just not always listed on events page. Join up some of the bigger music groups ( I wont list cause heaven knows I will forget one and then be in trouble lol) and you will get a better picture of what is going on. AND....since there is not alot on - perfect chance for you to kick off something at your venue Smile There are some great musicians hanging around in the SL morning, so I doubt it will be hard for you to get people to play. The other good thing with your own venue - is playing your own gigs. I do that on Thur AM sl time (our Thursday evenings).

I look forward to catching you inworld some time.

thanks ticious & tommy i'll look you up inworld and check out your groups.
