Help with winamp!

i have a question about winamp using the shoutcast plugin.  Has anyone heard of troubles with winamp and the shoutcast plugin recenty?  All of a sudden I am unable to stream have been getting compatibility errors with Sonic but I was still able to stream until last night after I applied the latest bunch of upgrade patches from Microsoft.  So I upgraded winamp to the latest version and still i'm not able to stream.  I even blocked the Sonic stuff out of it when I reinstalled like i read in one place and still no go.  Sad  I even took my laptop back to one restore point and still nothing.  I am using a pc laptop.  I also installed winamp on my new desktop which is also a pc and it doesn't work.  Does anyone have any advice?

This won't help with your Winamp problem, but many people find this program better to use.

The are a couple advantages over Winamp:

1. The ability to store details of several streams.

2. The ability to record as you stream, with an "auto-start" feature.

Hope this helps.  Smile

Are you able to stream at all, or is it just that the stream breaks up and is inconsistent?

.. my blanket suggestion always seems to be... reboot the router/broadband modem/switch/ etc.., wait 30 seconds, then plug them back in.

Probly won't fix your problem, but it's a cheap and easy thing to try, and it does fix a surprising amount of streaming problems.

Help with winamp!

Thank you both Toby and Norris for replying to my cry of help.  I was really panicking because i have three shows today one of which is a special party and I was not getting any sound whatsoever.  I tried unplugging everything and I must have restarted my laptop a thousand times.  I finally restored my laptop back to a certain point and restored winamp back a version and bought a $20 cord that goes from my laptop to my little box that connects to my mixer.  It seems doing all that worked.  But I am going to look into your suggestion too Toby cause that looks like a good way to record myself which I have been wanting to do too.   So thank you both, much appreciated.

After one of the MS updates a few months ago I had this issue it was some type of conflict with the sound card (and I wish I knew what fixed it, But I can't remember I think I had to wait until the next Tuesday update and it was fixed..

you shouldn't need to roll back those MS updates and I bet its not Winamp either I would think the MS update goofed something in the soundcard drivers..

I use winamp and sam 9but prefer win amp, I can set 5 diffrent streams and stream to 5 at once I record running kristal and live, but I am going to look at this soundforge thing an auto start recording would be nice, but what does it record at ???

There is a choice of bitrates, from 32k to 320k. Also you can use different bitrates for recording and streaming.

Well, the credit should go to Daniel Noethen who created this excellent application.

In case it's of help to anyone, here's a link to Daniel's site:
