Independant Musicians Group ( New Role)( Also copied over from Announcements)
As many Musicians and Venues now have Managers/ Hosts/ or friends wishing to post on the (Blue pop ups)Group Announcements,
I have created a new Role ( Indie Music Promoter) so that you may now announce shows for the musicians and venues...
If you are NOT already part of the Independant Musicans Group then IM me and I will add you as an officer so you may do this.
If you just want to be kept up todate wth music shows in SL so you can go and experience some amazing Music then the group is open to join...
just look in Group Search.
Pass the word around please

Indie music venuesI'm a new venue owner, and anyway of contacting musicians and letting them know you're around is a good one.
An Indie Music Venue sign might be good for such venues, they could advertise the group as well.

Indie venueHopefully something simple like An SL Indie Music Venue
Maybe an info card giver built into the sign to explain what an Indie Music Venue is.

It can be argued, since the big music companies aren't (to my knowledge) in SL at all at this point, that ALL Second Life venues are Indie Music Venues so I'm not sure I understand what the distinction would be.
In the info center at Rocky Shores, I had signs for all the major music groups with their logos and notecards containing their missions statement, instructions for joining and primary contact names. If you contact the group owners, they'll generally give you a copy of their logo texture. The notecards, I made myself, copying from the mission statement in the group description. The notecard giver script was a freebie, widely available in world.
Edited to add: Taxas, if what you're looking for is a way to find musicians to play at your venue, the best way to do that is to attend a lot of shows and when you hear a musician you like and want for your venue, make a note and im them WHEN THEY ARE NOT PERFORMING. There are TONS of open mics in SL and this is largely what they're for.
Once your venue is up and running and attracting audiences, you won't need to worry about finding musicians, they'll find you (but watch out for the sharks I mentioned in the other thread, they'll find you too, don't let anyone bully you and if a musician's fee is too high for you, politely decline to stage them...emphasis on politely).
