Input Needed :-)I have set my eyes on a basic kit to get started again.
it has been a long time since i looked into this stuff, my vision was allways : If it aint broken, then dont fix it
so once i had my gear i didnt add anything to it.
I am looking at a possible options and wonder if someone of you have experience with one of them,
or have some valuable input.
I want to use the set i buy to start playing guitar on SL and to start recording again.
i still have the software for recording ( logic and vst plugs )

the Line 6 Toneport version 1 Seems a nice little thing, not expensive but reading the comments there is some problem getting this thing to work and register.
there is also a different opinion on the guitar sounds in this thingy, but since i start as an acoustic one this is not that important for now.

the line 6 Toneport version 2 This one seems to be better then version 1, again some complaints about the support, but in general the comments are good on this one.

the Lexicon Lamda Looks like a nice thing, but there is one complained that bothers me, the preamps doesnt seem to be that good.

the Lexicon Omega A bigger one then the Lamba, there seem to be a lot of driver issues according to the comments. Sound seems to be Ok.

Yamaha Audiogram Just released so i couldnt find any revieuws yet, Yamaha is offcourse known for their quality and the price ( $140 ) is ok.

Hey Sound. I'm not at the guitar level that you are, but I do have the Line6 Toneport UX2 that i use to play live in SL, and I've also used it to do a bit of recording. I run my vocal mic, and my guitar into it, and use a pre-amp simulation for the voice, (along with reverb and compression) and umm.. something else for the guitar. lol
I actually bought a second Line6 Toneport GX just to get all the *vst plug ins that i could use with Cubase LE.
*** note that with the UX2, you don't get all the *vst plugins to use in DAW's. You need to buy them as add ons, or buy the 'Gold Bundle'.
The registration process wasn't that bad, as long as you are comfortable with a computer, and can follow instructions. It went pretty smoothly for me, but it was a few steps to get it done. I don't think it's a great device for someone who isn't comfortable with computers and 'tweaking' things within windows.
I used the toneport to make all the guitar tracks on this song (along with a 100$ guitar i bought at a pawn)

For someone at my level, it has been great, and i have no complaints with it. It has definitely helped me improve my sound and do some things that i couldn't do without it. Your mileage may vary.
..and that's my 2 cents worth...

Boss GT10 kicks ass and not just for electric distortion. You heard it in several setups in the gig on Saturday. I had a Line6 box and hated it because it was a hassle to configure it and just a general pain in the ass.
P.S. I don't remember which model of Line6...pro XT or some such....it just sucked. There are other varieties and, as you've seen with Norris, you may have better luck with them. One thing I can tell you for sure that the GT10 is dirt simple to use.

We have the the Line 6 Toneport in the studio just as another added DI Effects run for guitarist. I used in the last recording I did, and found it kindof hard to switch around easy (but I'm used to a floor rack stomp, vol, expression pedal all in one) it does have some great sounds as well as cab emulators though line 6 has some of the best emulators IMHO.
I almost bought the Lexicon Omega and think its a good deal, in the long run I went with a PCI card as I was going to be using an outboard mixer anyway. but thats with a full tower and not a laptop..
anyway thats my choice, and I have used one I really like that you have 8 inputs on it (I like to run the guitar on 2 channels) and it has I think the best recording ability.
