Musicians in SL

Hi,

I'm brand new. How do I locate musicians in SL? Is there a directory?

You've come to the right place! And good timing too.

This forum is dedicated to the Second Life Music Community and everything that comes with it. It was started recently, so we're still waiting on all the musicians, djs, producers, composers, singers, and performers to make it over.

Once inworld, there is a group "Live Music Enthusiasts" which is the largest group, if you check the group's info, you'll be able to see who is a member, and who are the live musicians. This is not a complete "directory" but it'll help.

There is no formal directory ... yet.. but hopefully that will be built.
There are locations inworld, such as Menorca which have "hall of fame" areas, that display a lot of the musicians in SL.

Everyone in world has their own projects and undertakings, so it's all about searching, exploring, making friends, and networking. Finding people with similar interests and goals is the way to get what you want inside.

Not sure where you are brand new to, but... he didn't mention the easiest way to find musicians.

-Open the Search window
-Select the Events tab up top
-in the drop-down menu, select Live Music
-Search!

Lots of music types out there. Have fun!!

Actually there are 2 directories that i know about - 2ndnightlife.com and my own Music Directory which is located on the ViBe website: www.vibe.slvibe.com
At present listings are few as there hasn't really been a place where I could promote the directory effectively.
Another potential site to look at musician listings isn't a directory at all. It's Secondtunes.com which lists all the musicians that are selling music through the site. The list isn't categorised which makes it difficult if you are searching for a particular genre.

Sorry for the delay in answering DD - i had trouble finding this thread again - click on the Live Music Directory link to submit a listing. you will need to register with the site first - i put that in place to reduce the risk of rubbish listings. I will be working on disentangling the directory from the ViBe site tho so it is just a generic SLMC component - if anybody knows a good directory engine, please point me in that direction.
