New Music Artists, Bands, and ComediansAre you a new music artist? Are you a comedian that wants to be noticed in SL? Are you looking for people to manage you or get your name out for you?
Well, the Arbor is going to host a variety show every other Monday at 7 pm to their clients. The Arbor restaurant has been around more than a year and many of their customers have big connections.
They also own the Glass Slipper which hosts big live shows and you might be asked to perform there to get even more noticed.
So, what do you have to lose?
Fill out a notecard with you full SL name, talent you can perform for 15 to 30 minutes, times you can be reached, and any fee you might require then put the notecard in Opal Proctor's profile.

I'd be surprised if anyone will do a 15-minute set and more than a few feel too confined in a 30-minute set. You might want to think about timing a bit more.

Well, I have opened it up to 45 min and 1 hour at the moment on the website (www.thearborsl.com). The reason I confined it to 15 to 30 minutes is that some song writers only have a couple songs (I have one right now who will be doing her first performance with us.) If things run over, it is fine by me. I also did the 30 minutes for the comedy acts since I have seen some on SL only have about 20 to 30 min of act. As for musicians, I am open to having more time like the 45 and 1 hour.

I don't mind short shows.

/me waves to Opal! Great to have you here and good luck with your venture, it sounds really cool and interesting.
There are open mics around with 20 minute sets that seem to run just fine. Personally, I know from experience, short sets are killer on the host in the 'background' (fast pace with no down time to catch your breath) but there's lots of precedence around. From what I've seen, anything from 15 minutes to 2 hours is pretty normal.

Yes, I figured I would have my hands full with streams and voice, but the show itself is only going to last between an hour to an hour in a half. It is kind of like dinner and a show. I am limiting the seats to about 20 people people or so and they are going to be served drinks and appeitizers while listening to the show. There will also be dancing as well and this will take place on Cloud 9, one of our skyboxes. I think it would be a nice change to the restaurant as well as concept to my customers.
I thought it might be a change for the musician as well since at the Glass Slipper we have the musician play for an hour or more. It will also help any budding comedian or live performer to get their feet wet a tad. I would also love seasoned artists to join as well to just have fun with it and do a 30 minute set instead of an hour if they so wish or I will be agreeable to a full hour too.
It might be different than just a music venue scene or club.
