P2 in tha houseHello, all. Put your weapons away, please.
Phoenix "P2" Psaltery here, Associate Publisher at the Metaverse Messenger, author of the weekly Sound Bites music column, and 25ish year veteran of the music biz as well.
Many of you may know my wife, Sansarya Caligari, as well. We are both avid fans of live music.
Last time I checked out this forum, it was tiny. Lots more people here now. I'm looking forward to lots of excellent discussions with all of you.

Hey Phoenix,
Welcome. Your recent article on greedy venue owners got a bit of discussion over here.
We likes talking.

Most happy to see you here, and look forward to seeing you at the show with Komuso and me on the 3rd. And may I say again, thanks for the wonderful article you did on me a few issues back. Personally, I find Metaverse Messenger to be the go-to SL newspaper that I read more than the others ones.
We are designing some ads now to run in the MM, to promote the French Quarter sim that I bought on April 4th. I want to help promote the merchants who rent from us there as a bonus to them having their stores on the sim.
As for your editorial on the venues, I thought it was needed. I don't think it was directed at some of the hard-working ladies who frequent this forum, but I think some of them thought it was.
I agreed with it, because as a working musician in SL who works hard to show up on time, promote my shows at the venues I'm hired to play at, put on a sold two-hour show with less talk and "uh's and mmmm's and stuff, I think I earn that little bit of money I get for creating the content, as you called it. Musicians are indeed content creators, and those of us who work hard to put on a professional quality show deserve to get paid just as those who make professional products, scripts, etc. deserve to get paid.
Fortunately I rarely get somebody asking me to play for $1k, though on occasion I've been asked to play a "showcase" that's supposed to help me somehow raise my profile. And every single time that has happen, and I mean that, every single time, the person making me this generous offer to help raise my profile, has not heard me play before that night, and did not look at my profile to find out how to book me, no did they bother to go to the website and see that my calendar is full up more than two months in advance with well-paying shows. If I get any more profile raising, I'm going to need to add more days to the week.
I hope that your reception here is positive, because in spite of how some read or misread the intent of your recent article, the Metaverse Messenger routinely does a lot to promote Second Life musicians, the emerging Second Life music scene and community, and the work of everyone involved in it in general. You were a brave man to stop by.
Good luck, and see ya at the show.

I saw first hand what Phoenix will do for SL music. He walked around in a silly alt with green hair to raise money for Nancy Lei's computer. He made banners and tip jars and counted the lindens for Nancy. Now, that's passion for our community! Welcome Phoenix!

Wow! Heeelllllooooo Phoenix.
Welcome! Good to see you on the board. Weapons? Not so! We get heated discussions in here sometimes. I think some darts have been thrown a few times (not sure if they had poison on them )
I think most people leave the swords and the guns at the door
At least, I hope so.

Great to see you here, P2 - M2 is way cool and I liked the article too, although I've not played around enough to have encountered that experience as of yet. Any venue owners you meet in here are top-notch, of the highest caliber (along with everyone else for that matter). Welcome!

Phoenix!! Okay folks this is one great addition to this forum. I can't tell you all how much this man has been so generous with his heart and words. He is also a great addition to our rl family. Welcome Phoenix I for one am glad you are here! I hope people in here get to know you as I have and have become a better person for it. The worst thing happened to me this past month. I couldn't be in SL and you gave me the best wish possible and soon I will be able to dance and hear live music again! It is with a heart like that that make the world a happier place for many of us. Not only did you try to revive this puter I am on now and try and get me into world. You did a fundraiser and got me a new one! I can't tell you how much that act of kindness will live on in my heart forever! I secretly think it's because you miss harassing me about my spelling in world. LOL. and you like typing "neil who?" Anyhow...Sans is my best friend in RL and SL andI am glad she is with a kind heart as yours. Mega nancy Hugs...and see you in world soon!
