Quick invitations to GroupsI might be doing this all wrong
( wouldnt be suprised )
But now i have to open my group,
open the invite tab,
open the browser,
and start typing in the names....
Lots of work,
lots of windows open...
Is there an easier way to invite people to your group ?

That is how I do it too, and it IS cumbersome. It would be cool if there was an easier way... is it possible for someone to invent a HUD that would allow you to invite someone to your active group just by right-clicking on them and selecting an "invite" option?

and what about those objects you see sometimes,
ADD TO OUR GROUP
you click them and can join the group,
i believe i saw those things ? somewhere ???

I could be wrong, but I think those things just send a message to someone who goes through the whole rigamorole described. But I don't know, I've clicked a couple but have yet to be added to any groups that way.

those objects usually do one of two things.
Some maintain a list of the people that touch the object on a server outside of SL (with a second touch removing them from the list), and further scripts in-world allow you to send an IM or objects to all of those people. This obviously bypasses the internal SL group system completely.
Others will send you personally a notification that someone has asked to join your group, and you can add them all later manually.
Currently there is no way to, say, right click someone and select 'Invite to my active group', nor to script the group joining process. I believe there is a JIRA entry for the scripting side of this, but it's something the Lindens have said on various occasions they'll think about adding, and never have.

There is a right click option now for group invites.Howdy!
With version 1.18.3, if you can see someone's AV, you can right click them... choose 'More'.... then 'GROUP INVITE'... and select the group.
Yay! not available in any SL versions prior to this though.

And, at least with the ones that maintain a list, you can copy-n-paste into the Invite box.... not quite as bad as typing the whole name in.

I've gotten so sick of inviting manually, I just shout:
"Anyone wanna join the Live Turntable DJs Group? ....well? join it then!"

A little easierJust so you know folks..the current lastest release of the SL front end allows a slightly easier way to add a person to a group.
Right click on their avatar so you get the pie and select option "More".....and in the next pie the option "Add to group" is at the top.
I wonder if this addition has made the inviting of avatars to a group any more open to being scripted. I am not the man to answer that but if anyone knows then please tell me!!! ...we would all like a utility where we could feed a notecard full of avatar names into a script and it does the invites for us!

Norris mentioned that last month, and a few posts up.
I don't mind the new way to invite people, but I wish there was a filter to make it impossible for you to invite someone that's already a member of the group. As well as a quicker way to invite several people. Or even a quicker way to join a group yourself.
...and did I mention, ALLOW MORE GROUPS!

Good god yes!
If telepathy exists the LL people should be on the floor holding their heads moaning "more groups!, more groups!"
