Second Life 5th Birthday Party Music Performer schedulingUPDATE!! The info initially posted below is out of date:WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Well would ya look at that! As luck would have it, I was asked to gather the performers for SL BIRTHDAY 2008 8 days AND YES the SECOND LIFE MUSIC COMMUNITY WILL BE REPRESENTED 4 stages - music 24/7 for 8 days! .... so, if you've ever complained in the past 'how come LL doesn't ask me to play at the birthday' ... or ... 'how come the music in SL is never represented well' ---- this year is the one... this year is the year we do it right and exceptionally. here it is: Want to perform?!?!?!?!? it's the 3rd week of June through 1st week of July. No timeslots have been filled. Right now, I'm gathering all the names of people that want to perform. musicians, DJs, singers, bands Please note, I am not in charge of the lineup or the scheduling. I am the liason between LL, the birthday event, and the Second Life Music Community. So, I'm going to drop of my handful of interested names to them, and they will continue from there by contacting you for your info and time, etc. Slim, Ticious, Sally, Bibi, Mimi, EVERYBODY... get ready, cause the SLBDAY2008 is going to be exactly how we'd like it to be this year. IMPORTANT: This is the thread which I will use to send all performers to... and REPLY on this thread if you are interested in playing. I'm confused, Moira somebody (I forget the actual name, but on the blog she's listed as coordinating the music for this) contacted me a few weeks ago and I responded back to her but haven't heard anything more.
Are you taking over for her or is this something else? Anyway, I sent her bios for Nad Gough, Micki Underwood, Norris Shepherd, Al Hofmann, excape Hax and DimiVan Ludwig. Evenutally, EZ came to think of his voice as his favorite instrument and the singer/songwriter we now know was born. Today, he describes himself as a singer, who just happens to play guitar. The passion with which he performs belies this humble statement as can often be seen as he simulcasts live video of his performances on his website during his shows. EZ's style is a combination of popular rock, with a little R&B mixed in and he lists Pearl Jam, Bush, STP and Lifehouse as being among his influences. |

Yes, she's the official LL staffer thats head of arranging the music... she came to several of us asking for musicians.... Most people gave her several names... ... If we want the bday to be the way it's always been where a LL staffer tries to schedule and operate a 8 day 24/7 music, especially without knowing any of the musicians by asking people for names here and there... then it'll turn out the way it's been the past 4 years. The SL Bday is going to need close to 300 performers/performances. when she asked me if i could get her some performers, I copied and pasted the 500+ SLMC member list... then said "yeah i know a few" .... so in all honestly.. they're LL... we're the music people.. we know how to do this right.. and they're opening the door for us... so as much as WE do for them, the more it'll be exactly how we want it. if we, as a community, take on arranging all of the performers to give to LL and basically make the show for them... then it'll be the way its supposed to. Thank you everyone for the responses and replies. I can tell already this Bday is THE ONE! again, im not affiliated with the birthday event. I was asked, twice in fact, to be a project lead in relation to representing the solution provider aspect of SL... but my passion in SL is to the music community first, not the solution provider community so i turned em down.... so techically, I'm in no position or role with the SL Bday, but they want us to gather as many quality performers as we can, and do it right..... so... lets do it right. The best method I can see is this forum thread. Anyone and Everyone that wants to perform posts a "hi i wanna" ..... and finally, for the first year, a performer that wants to perform at the birthday has the opportunity to AND us as the SLMC get to totally run the music entertainment with precision. |

The form was apparently made up by Dusty Linden (which is the Linden I believe overseeing the whole thing). I started poking around since I got an offline IM from Chel Norfolk who is apparently the current Music Team Lead. I was looking to see who this was that was contacting me. The form has most of what DD was asking, but also has a full selection of slots to allow people to directly state when they are available. I'm not trying to dis anyone or get anyone's panties in a wad, I just found that and thought it might be useful. |

It's all one and the same. LL set up a "please help" form. LL also contacted a bunch of us to wrangle performers. and i thought the best way to give em a full list of people that wanna play the bday would be to have interested people post a quick message here. ... keep in mind LL is trying to arrange 8 days of alllllll kinds of stuff..... so, if you've sent info to LL, Moiaria, Chel, or whomever, no worries, you're in.... this thread is simply another option to declare your INness. There's been talk, rumors that other music groups or crews or whatever are "in charge" .... I have no idea.... from my perception, LL wants anyone and everyone that is an experienced SL music type to jump on board and help make it happen. .....I could be wrong.... within the past few days maybe LL decided to pick one person to create the entire show which will lead to the usual everyone bitching about why it didnt work.... I have no idea whats what with this... all I know is that we know the person to get all our performer names to... and we're all gonna make our mark the way we wanna this year. ALSO: to clear up some confusion... there's the SL Bday sims, several... that's the space... within that space there will be 4 music stages. ASIDE from that, there are spaces within the event where people can apply to set up... like a display booth.... .... and SLMC will have an area set up, which will also have music and performances.... so, it's a lil confusing, but if projected plans happen, slmc is gonna have a 8000sqm space which Slim and us SLMC gang has free reign on.... then aside from that is the main event, with performers... which LL is the overall organizer for. You'll definitely want to connect with Slim about the SLMC space, because again, I don't know the details on this either.. I may be overstepping a lil cause it's totally Slim's call on how to use her space at the SLBday |

Sl5b MusicHello everyone,I am working on the schedules for SL 5th birthday party, I am doing the scheduling for Dj's and Roxi Bingyi will be scheduling the live acts. I see there been alot of questions about SL5B I have been working hard on this project for since aug of 2007 ( 11 months ). I been alot of meetings and snopping out djs one by one. I asked Mo to come aboard to help back in April snooping out the live acts hoever due to some personnal issues she had step down and I then asked Roxi to step up to the plate. I met Roxi back in november when she asked to join SLMA and be apart of her board of directors. Thank you Roxi for helping me schedule the Live Acts... Carlie Lollipop witll be helping me schedule the theater group for the art department.... Thank you Carlie DjMike Umaga will be working on my team to help me post schedules to a web site which will be then release to public on June 15th.... Thank you Mike for joining my team.... and thank you all for being patience with as I work on the schedule and filling out the forms I have asked you all to fill that is on the wiki ... Hi everyone. As Chel explained, I have just stepped into the position of Live Music Organizer. Chel is your DJ contact and Resident Team Leader.
Live Performers: I've received many of your notecards that were sent to the previous organizer. I'm going thru each of them one by one and will contact you individually. If you do not hear from me in the next 2 days, please IM me. 1. If you haven't already, please fill out the availablity form at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/SL5B If you've already filled it out, please do NOT fill it out again. Beginning tomorrow, (Monday) we will begin the scheduling process. 2. If you do not have a group tag that reads SL5B Perfomer, you have not been added to the group yet. Please IM or send a notecard (with your SL name) to me, to be added. My IM's go to my email box as well. DJ's IM Chel. When you have a group tag and have filled in the form, that's all you have to do until we have the finished schedule. As a RL Talent Agent working in SL, I respect any performer that is willing to wear their heart on their sleeve and perform in this abstract world. I'll do my best to fit as many of you as possible. (As of now, our goal is 70 LIVE performers but this number could climb higher). I hope that the music representation at this years event is diverse, plentiful and fun for all. (DD, you are a great asset! Thank's for doing so much preliminary work for this event.)
