Yepz, got the SLevolution vendors at JSP Festival Stage too. The owner has great ideas and wants to collaborate and find artists.

The product is a wonderful addition to the in world music experience. The SLevolution development team is top notch, expect that this product line will only get better
This system differs from the "MP3 By Me" in that the music remains contained in world, whereas the MP3 By Me systems, sell the customer the mp3 file outright, so they can take it to any RL music player.
Another good example of similar products co-existing on the grid, in harmony with the bigger picture.
Peace be,

I’ve been selling MP3s in Second Life for a while now and I find it to be a boon to my musical endeavors. I’m currently using a system I made myself after two attempts at using third party vendors.
Every month I sell a lot more MP3s then I did using the Internet. Second life is a place people come to spend money and it seems they are willing to buy music if they enjoy it.
I feel obligated to mention I’ve used Reslez’s system. After three shows it magically disappeared from my inventory. I sent Reslez a note card about this issue, got confirmation he had received the note card, but he never made any attempt to remedy the situation.
As for Reslez’s system itself, I have notice most people find it hard to use. The system comes with an instruction placard that you need to post near the system for people to figure out how to use it. Even then it’s a chore.
I currently use the “Three prim wonder” vendor. It sell people a note card with a link to a web page they can download the file from. So far I’ve never had anybody ask how to use the vendor or have problems getting their download. I also post a prim with a script in it that prompts people to open a web page with an Imeem player imbedded to allow them to preview the songs.
The benefits.
Low prim count.
People don’t need instructions on how to use it.
I can update as much as I want
I don’t need land permissions or ownership to allow people to preview the music.
All the money goes to the artist.
Perhaps Reslez is a nice guy; frankly I don’t know or care. All I can say is my dealings with him have been unsatisfactory. I find his system, while it does technically work, to be clunky, cumbersome and overly complicated.

Some do find our original system less than user friendly Zorch, but we have been working to remedy this. We are to where all the client needs do is right click buy from anywhere in the audience. Also, Full albums can be sold as a bundle. The work continues
It is regrettable that you have found the units unsatisfactory for any reason. Best thing to do would be to talk with me about, rather than feeling
as such. Your will find that your satisfaction is primary to us.
Peace

Well I have to say that I have had no problems using the MP3 By Me vendors and I have used both the one with all SL artists and the portable one to put out at concerts so people can buy the one they have just heard
Many people have problems because they dont take a few seconds to read that walkthrough...its quite simple actually.
Btw...Reslez is a nice guy....I dont know you, Zorch....are you?
The SLevolution MP3 Workbench, which I am using as well, is a nice addition because as it was pointed out by Reslez...the fans get to listen to the mp3's inworld...streaming from the artists own website...so I also think the 2 options will work nicely side by side.
Have a nice day!

Seems there are quite a few MP3 vendors in SL at the moment. When shopping for one, here are some features you might want to look out for:
- Ease of use for the musician owner
- Ease of use for buyers
- Security (a lot of MP3 vendors give a link that anyone can access and download from multiple times, may not be a concern, up to you)
- Concurrency (problem with A LOT of vendors in general. When making a purchase someone can change the item on the vendor just before you click PAY and you end up with the wrong item. Most vendors don't experience this problem 'cos they haven't been popular enough to have more than 1 person using it at the same time)
- Reporting (what reports are available to show you history of sales, buyers, etc....)
The myPod is very secure. The link that is given to the buyer only works for one download. If that download happens to fail the owner can re-activate the link.
The myPod solves the problem with concurrency by making sure the buyer clicks a green "BUY" button to mark which song they want in case someone change it during the payment process. Unfortunately this feature has made it less easy to sure (2-step process to purchase) but it was better than people getting the wrong song (which was starting to happen a lot to popular artists who had multiple buyers at a time).
The myPod has some reports in HTML table format that show songs uploaded, paid for but not yet uploaded and any errors that might have popped up.
There are other vendors that are easier to set-up and easier to use, not sure how they handle security and concurrency tho. I'm not phased whether people use the myPod system that I built or prefer a different one. Just giving you all some tips on what to look out for.

I agree Oz!! Would you mind copying your post to the FAQ section so it's easy for folks looking for that info to find?

Yeah great idea! Should be a generic criteria list, as opposed to a plug for any particular system though.

yeh sure. I'll add it to the FAQ without any mention of a particular system. Will also add a few things I forgot to mention such as up-front fee systems and commission based systems, lag, upgrades, support, etc..

Hi all
Just to say a quick 'ello' and am more than happy to answer any questions on our rig and am working through the FAQ's to try to contribute. I'll do my best to leave out the shameless plugs out for now.
