I am starting my tyre kicking and want a new laptop. Cant fit a desktop in house - and I need portability for work. I need windows based, and am aware there are all sorts of reasons I should consider a Mac - but that is not going to happen due to accounting software - simple as that.

As far as broadcasting and graphics, what are the areas I should make sure are beefed up..and by how much? I know dedicated graphics cards in laptops hare now alot more common, but is there more than what just comes 'out of the box' that I should be looking at?

Intel Macs run Windows native. You can definitely run your accounting software.

Although these answers are exactly what you said you didn't want, you're probably going to be spending a couple of grand so it'd be worth considering what they've said.

For me, there's been one huge difference between running Windows XP on a PC and, as currently, running it on a Mac. I haven't had a single blue screen since I did it and they were happening almost daily on the PC (plus a host of other problems).

It appears to me that the biggest vulnerability on Windows isn't so much the shabby operating system as it's fairly stable if it's on a stable platform. However, you can wreck it nicely by adding new graphics drivers or audio drivers. Mac people hardly ever change graphics cards and never change audio cards so all of those hassles and unreliabilities beome things of the past.

Don't think of it as buying a Mac to run Windows on it. Think of it as buying a quality Intel platform that will run whatever you want on it. What's more, it will run it transparently.
