Using VoiceHai My friends
Not sure if you know a solution for my problem,
I like VOICE
Not the big ones, but the small intimate ones
One on one or with a max of 4 AV's...
Most of the times i grab my acoustic guitar and start playing,
and people like that
Now i notice that my sound dropps out all off the time ?
I use a headset ( Mic and Headphones in one ) plugg it in my Toshiba Notebook ( WIN XP ) and normally that would be it.
I set up the voice thing in the pref. section.
I start and hear other talk and they hear me offcourse.
After a while i can not hear them, but they can hear me talk/play.
A while later i can hear them again...
Not sure what is causing this.
Some additional info.
* I can hear the UI Sounds when i drop out. ( so it has to be something with using voice )
* doesn't matter where i am, happens on all sims.
( first i thought it might be the LAG )
* asked around and noone else has this problem.
* When i dont hear them, the ""green signs" are not showing.
( so again, something with voice ? )
Anybody any idea what is wrong ?

Well, voice causes your bandwidth to get eaten up tremendously. Using voice and SL is asking for problems.... so, best advice is to lower all of your SL settings, draw distance, graphics, everything you can.
The dropout I'm pretty sure has to do with bandwidth and lag

there has also been some inherent problems with the Voice service last week or so. that may have been part of the problem too.

it's ironic that voice and SL are close to incompatable.

I disagree they're incompatible but it's quite likely it's not sufficiently robust for your intended application. I use it all the time and I find it's generally more reliable than Skype, periodic dropouts notwithstanding. The Skype / SL combat was an endless nuisance and I'm glad to be done with it. One substantial difference between the two is that multi-user chats on Skype were a nightmare with it becomingly progressively more useless the more people were engaged. However, I haven't noticed that same type of decay in chats of ten or more people in SL.
The reliablity is important to me as I used Skype or, more accurately, Telia did to coordinate shooting videos. When we shot scenes that involved up to ten people, Skype became a nightmare. Telia doesn't have much time for SL anymore so we haven't tried Voice for coordinating videos and I'll report back when we do.
(Telia is fine. We talk several times a day on the phone but contrary to some belief, we're not married in real life and never had any intention of getting married. I'm not going to reveal her personal life but I'm sure it's ok to say this much: she's got one teenager and she's about to get another one so she just doesn't have time. For Telia, SL is a game and that's fine. Whenever she has time to play, she will be the Eden Pyro Queen just as always.)
