ok here goes...im interested in streaming with a friend..u know as ive heard others do....example..max/mimi..djaj/fabs.....an a few others...thing is ...ive not got a clue how to do it !!!!...so any advice? or tips?..or links to a site that explains this....or even if someone wants to catch me inworld an have a chat?? thnx Smile

ok so..head a look.....its nicecast....i use winamp....any one else have any info regarding this..using winamp...or am i just being thick??

Heya bbg.. regardless of the technology you use... here's the logic of how it works.

First person (upstream): plays and streams as they normally would. (They will never be able to hear the person downstream... unless someone records it and sends it to them later)

next person (downstream):
a) they need to listen/pickup the first person's stream. Can do it either using Winamp, Windows Media Player, or anything that can listen to a shoutcast stream.

b) they need to feed the first person's stream into their mixer (via sound card line-out, or however).

c) they play along with the first stream and set the mix on their mixer.

d) they stream the whole mix out to a second stream (using whatever software you use to stream).

.. if you already grasped the concept and were looking for specifics, then i apologize but i might copy this to a FAQ or something.

There are so many different ways to do any and each of those steps that it's difficult to say 'do this then this then this'... but i'm pretty sure that you'll be able to figure it out using the gear and brains that ya have. Smile

Here is how I have done it, using win amp and shoutcast.

just as Norris said above.
I put the url of the first person (who I am going to play with) into the player part of win amp (play the stream.) this in turn goes out of the soundcard to my mixer. I then hear they'er stream on my monitors as well at the same time I am feeding it into the shoutcvast source in my win amp I play along through my mixer ( and this now is they'er feed, plus my playing ) getting to shoutcast and send it using my relay server..

What it basically is like is DJing with win amp, how to do it without a mixer, I would have no clue. you have to use shoutcast' soundcard input. I guess you could do it with out a mixer but then you can't really mix it to well...

if that confuses you more (I hope not) I can try to give a little more detail, besides win amp and shoutcast how are you doing your live stuff?

here is another way to look at it, its like playing backing tracks and playing singing along with them, essentially the 1st person in the dual stream is a backing track.

You can't talk together live (well I guess you could run a voip app as well) its a very fun thing to do, especially if you are the final stream and like to goof off Very Happy
