| Welcome Phoenix, hope you find Second Life as great an experience as I have. I spent a fair amount of time in Singapore several years ago and did a fair amount of work on the "Festivals of Singapore" exhibit on Sentosa island. I have many fond memories of being in such a cultural hub with all of those influences swirling around me. |

Hey Ka-klick, thanks for your welcome... The face of Singapore changes every year I return, it's difficult to keep up! Sentosa island used to run a water theme park called Fantasy Island (I don't know if it was still running when you were there) and I did the jingle for their TV ad waaay back! Hope you enjoyed your stay there... and enjoyed in particular the food and seafood!! I don't ever cook when I return for short visits... just thinking about it makes my mouth water... What were you working on at the festivals? _________________ PhoeNix

Festivals of Singapore was a multimedia walk-through theatre that had Animatronics, sound, lights, static figures, etc. I did all the show control and animatronics programming. It was initially installed in 1994 so may be long gone by now.
I know what you mean about the food Some particular favorites I can recall were the "Banana Leaf Apollo" (Indian), Hawker center Roti Prata for breakfast (hope I spelled that right) and just about anything Chinese I ate there. I believe it was also my first taste of Thai Tom Yum soup at a hawker center... I could go on - about my only disappointments came when trying to get western food while I was there - Eggs should not be fried in fish oil (at least for me).
Then again there was durian <shudders> |

Oooo i sooo love and miss durian! They taste like heaven smell like hell, and can stink up the place for a few days after... In 1994 I was still living in Singapore... it sounded like a show called PALA which was a pro-audio show held for a few years in Singapore around that time. _________________ PhoeNix

Hi folks!
It's been a while since I posted here... though I've been lurking when I can in these forums and have enjoyed reading juicy thoughts and opines.
It's been a fun journey for me... I've tested and swum the waters, tasted (almost) failures and much successes, have even gone overboard and burnt out in a month... and now I've come full circle, crashing back down to earth, to be in a calm baby-rock-a-by place. I have learnt to balance my SL with my RL...
Now I will be gathering up my energies to begin another year.
This thread first announced my SL debut a year ago on 2 May... It's that time of the next year! And I'll be ushering in year 2 at the new Pocket at midnight this Sat.
Come celebrate with me there.. or here!
Warmest wishes to everyone and thank you for a wonderfully fab year! _________________ PhoeNix
