I've just connected an Apple TV to my video system and the results are absolutely stunning. I didn't have time to really shake it out but it was effortless to set it up. Here's the quick review:
Videos shot in SL: Breathtaking and I'm talking display on a 73" screen. There was very little pixelation and the videos are ones I've shot at 720x480 in Second Life. The quality is so much better than I had hoped that I can scarcely believe it.
Non-animated videos: There was substantial pixelation of heavily-compressed RL videos but this was expected. I'll be shooting some HD video in the next few days and will have an update on that.
I tried capturing video in SL at 1920x1080 but results were poor. I suspect this was because I was using the JPEG codec rather than animation but I didn't have time to further explore it. I'll report further after more experiments.
Screw YouTube. That stuff is chump change. If you want to see how your videos REALLY look, try this Apple TV to put them on a big screen and I have high confidence you will be amazed. If you've already got an HD video system, adding an Apple TV to it will cost you about $200 for the 80 GB unit and a little over $300 for the 160 GB. Also, don't get it from Apple unless you want to pay tax on it. MacConnection has free shipping and no tax. _________________ Ever vigilant for da gooses overhead.

P.S. High-def on the cheap
I got a monster TV by stalking it at Circuit City until it went on sale. I told them I wanted the floor model and ended up getting it for about half price.
People told me that non-BluRay DVDs suck on an HD projection TV. It's hogwash.
LCD is certainly superior to projection but for the same size TV (assuming they even make one that big), I bet I'd be paying way over $10K and my roof still leaks and I still don't care.
Watch out for model changes. Mitsubishi is releasing them constantly. Get the previous model and save a bundle. The changes aren't that huge.
The HD camera is a refurb from Sony and that was about half price as well.
Consider very carefully before blowing $500 on a BluRay DVD player. Think about what is the most likely source for video over upcoming years before you spend this kind of money. I'll buy a movie from iTunes and report on how well it plays.
I'm not going to get a BluRay player/burner unless there's no other option. No possible way am I going to replace the media all over again. I chucked a bunch of LP-size optical discs from the first cut at DVD (anyone remember those). I chucked all the VHS tapes. Now I'm expected to chuck all the DVDs. And they think I'm going to buy a bunch of BluRay discs. Ain't no possible way.
A little bit of browsing about can save you a big, BIG bunch of money. _________________ Ever vigilant for da gooses overhead.

I've never even owned a Nintendo. Does the PS3 have a BluRay player in it? _________________ Ever vigilant for da gooses overhead.

I've given abundant evidence that I'm insane already but that last pic clinched it. I already maxed the credit card on that other stuff so I guess I'll have to lust after it for a while. _________________ Ever vigilant for da gooses overhead.

Well, if you think YOU'RE insane, I'm planning on buying a PS3 for one thing only: the Blu-Ray release of the Neil Young Archives.
I guess I'll let me kid play some games on it too. I'm nice like that. _________________

The only trouble with games is that I'll play 'em so they've been banned from my computers for years. _________________ Ever vigilant for da gooses overhead.
