|
|
Can someone please clarify land avatar and prim capacity, partiularly mainland versus islands.
40, 50 & 100 are numbers I heard thrown about concerning avatar capacity...under what circumstances are these numbers achieved and can they be adjusted?
Similarly, what is the formula for prim support per square meter and are there region differences?
Thanks for your help.

The avatar figure is adjustable via the Estate Manager menu. On the mainland, this is controlled by LL and is normally set to 40, the max they recommend. On a private island, it defaults to 40, but the sim owner can up it to 100 (though the sim will crash before it gets there).
For the prim per meter, did you check the LL knowledge base? This can be adjusted on a private island also, but the max for the island overall remains fixed at 15000. _________________ Joy is in the ears that hear

And, not to mention a Low Prim sim. I have both "islands" in one of these in the FairChang island group (FairChang Triton). 2 land masses 3Km2 each, 1423 prims total, about 3K prims total for the sim.
Garth has it set for 40 AVs. But, I doubt you could even move with more than 10 there.
What would you use something like this for? Well, it shares server space with other sims (no dedicated server like normally would be the case) .. I believe you can put 4 of these on one server.
But, there's LOTS OF SPACE ... visual space ... no crowding ... I love it!
Totally impractical for a Venue or a party. Oh, well. _________________ Ray

There are no sims on dedicated servers as far as I know. I believe the standard is 3 (or 4) sims to a single server. Who you share server space with changes each time the sim is restarted (it's a load balancer type thingy). _________________ Joy is in the ears that hear

Thanks, Ticious. I guess that's one of those misconceptions you pick up somewhere along the line ... and don't realize it until it slips out.
Sorry if I missled anyone. But, still, the low prim sim is an interesting option for anything other than a business. _________________ Ray

Hmm...another script flash. How about one that scans for scripted objects at a gig and then shouts "SO AND SO is lagging the sim by wearing scripted devices"!! Ha!!
How many people do you know who are wearing radar devices to see who is around them. Those probably trigger at least every second or two. Now multiple that by the number of people in the sim and tell me why sims lag at concerts. _________________ Ever vigilant for da gooses overhead.

Please, how many xcite attachments is it possible for one avatar to wear simulstainedeously? I'm werkin up a budget here. And can anyone tell me if this sorta thing creates lag when yer performing? I ask cause it would prolly be way better to have this shit all on all the time so yer ready to go, cause I doubt any wimmin are gonna be wanting to stand around for like a half an hour whilst you get ready... this is how those moments pass I spose. _________________ This text appears at the bottom of my posts. |

I think you can wear one for each attachment point you have Nad. It doesn't matter cos they are mostly invisible. Besides it is a great source of amusement for people who have invisible turned on.
Just don't squeal when someone slaps yer butt - why people wear this kinda thing then complain when someone actually clicks it I don't know. _________________ The ViBe
