It's not the musicians you deal with in case of copyright infringement, Sound. It's the lawyers of music publishers and record companies - they're mean.
And mean people suck. _________________ blog | the sixtyone

true again.
My point is : what can they do ?
not mutch i would say ( in my case that is, not speaking in general )
Sure they can claim money, but i dont have that
they can order me to stop abusing their tunes with a big penalty anytime i would play it, but again i cant pay that
So the only thing would be left was to throw me in jail LOL
They would have a hard job going after all copyright issues
I think you sing Happy birthday sometimes right ?
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Mr Linden
Happy Birthday to youuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Well, stop doing that please LOL
the copyright on that ends in 2030 so till then, stop abusing it
its illegal to sing that song
Offcourse it is about money i think artists, managers or companies
dont care as long as you dont make money on it _________________ ~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~

They probably won't send their bloodhounds out to get you personally, or any other SL musician for that matter. They'll go after the Lab, which will of course comply with the law.
Ain't no telling what will happen then. But where legal matters are concerned, the Lab has proven to be inclined to take drastic overnight measures.
"Live music is a killer application", the Lab's CEO stated recently. This probably means they smell money, and that the Eye of Sauron is upon us. _________________ blog | the sixtyone

if i recall it right LOl
that eye of Sauron lost the battle ?
lmao
well, Linden can kick me out offcourse
But seriously now
i see the stuff that happens around us,
just look at the stupidity that happens on YouTube
Kids video's of them singing a cover behind the piano are thrown out
Videos where happen to be a clip in the background are deleted
and mutch more of this crazyness.....
i do know what is going on, but ( again ) i really dont care
i cant help it, its the personality i think, the more they tell me i can not do something, the more i will do it
/me goes back to rehearse more covers _________________ ~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~

Linden Labs has already stated it's position and it's no different for musicians than it is for any other content creator. If you get caught singing a cover or I get caught selling pictures I copied from StockPhoto.com, either way, we are the responsible party, not Linden Labs.
In the past LL has taken drastic overnight measures on plenty of things, but this one, they covered in the initial EULA. _________________ Joy is in the ears that hear

I dunno whether anyone will ever come after performers for playing covers here in SL, but what I do know is that once lawyers get involved, they go after every pocket that is even superficially related to what they feel will potentially line their coffers. LL can claim that they have no responsibility, buy I guarantee the attorneys won't give a rats ass whether LL thinks it's their responsibility or not. I dunno if this is exactly the same analogy (close enough), but Napster was hammered along with a few select individual "examples" even tho they were only the medium for the 'abuse'.. just as LL is the medium for performers playing covers. If money was made in those court cases (and I guarantee attorneys made some), it didnt come from the poor pimply faced 14 year olds who were passing the music around.
I guess I just wanted to hear myself talk this morning. Next time I post, I'll actually try to say something worth listening to (no promises tho). _________________ "All Music is Noise, but not all Noise is Music." |
