I think Scott has a point that's being missed here. He has two "products" to offer.
First, he is a musician who wants to perform live in SL.
Second, he and his partner want to put together and stream a radio show. As I'm understanding this, it wont' necessarily be live.
The sim limits apply to the first product. But I don't know many people drawing more than a hundred these days anyway. But before Scott gets there, he needs to learn his way around SL, get his feet nice and wet and start gathering up a fan base. I'm helping him with the learning his way around SL part, hopefully, you more musically inclined folks will help him get streaming and help him get his levels nicely set (I suck at that).
On Scott's second product, really, streaming a radio show into SL is a mis-conception. You stream the radio show to the internet and provide the url to land owners in SL who have the option of setting the audio stream on their parcel to that url. Or they have the option of turning off their audio option in SL and listening through iTunes or any other such application. There are no Second Life restrictions which apply to this other than the need to get the word out (marketing).
Hopefully, product one will give an opportunity to promote product two. Sooooo, product one should come first.
yeah product 1(live performing) is the reason I'm here. product 2 is coming along though and seeing that there are DJs who thrive on SL makes me wonder if this might be a useful outlet for that.
My expectations aren't really huge. I'd just like to know how some of you would start promoting a pre-recorded show here if you had one, to give it a shot ?
What you are trying to do (product 2) sounds a lot like a podcast to me. I would just play live in SL, and make the podcast available via a website or something. My thoughts (and mine only.. i could be very wrong) is that I just don't see an advantage/reason why people would show up at a certain time/place in SL to listen to a recording of something.
I've been thinking a bit along those lines too. I've been playing for almost 3 years now, and what I keep saying i'm going to do is before/after/ or during a show i'm going to have a chat with someone. Not necessarily a musician... just someone i've come accross during my time in SL. Anyone in world who wants to listen to it can. Anyone who wants to listen to it after the show could download a recording of it.
Expectations are minimal... the listeners who will be there 'live' will mostly be my friends and/or the friends of the person i'm chatting with. There might be a handful of people who would record it afterward. _________________ http://www.NorrisShepherd.com
well the problem in this case is that the 2 things are not at all in the same realm. I think getting my music out there would actually not be aided much by pushing a somewhat eccentric talk show so I'd like to take the 2 things on completely different traks.
Are there radio networks based at SL that might take our talkshow on similar to a syndicated hour show on NPR ?
There are three that I know of, Cher Herrington's SL Live Music Radio, Fox Rensich (I'm misspelling his surname but he is registered here so you can check the user list) has Indie Spectrum Radio and Reslez Steeplechase of FCMC Radio.
I have no doubt at all that there are more, in fact I think there's one sponsored by Linden Labs, there might be information about that one on Help Island. The three listed above are focused solely on musicians who perform in SL though.
Hi Scott, SL Live Radio doesn't play broadcasts like this, but I think I mentioned to you about playing your music and you can place a promo for your music, website, venue etc.
I agree with Norris here...

Perhaps Traxx or Rosedrop Rust or someone maybe interested?
There's many others who do chatshows on the grid. treet.tv and metaverse.com have others and names. _________________ -ls/cm

However, the direct version is: most artists on ISR who are not currently gigging on SL HAVE gigged on SL in the past. The VERY few who have not, have plans to, or are ones that Fox is trying to get to gig because he feels they are artists that live music on SL would benefit from. ISR is a station with a focus to promote live music on SL, it is not a station for any and all indie comers whatsoever. He gets quite a few submissions from non-SL indie artists and deletes most of them unless they are good enough that a dialogue gets started about them coming into SL and thus improving the pool of artists here. The percentage of these non-SL artists getting on ISR is very small.
And yes, Fox is interested in and runs talk shows now. Please contact Fox Reinsch directly.

Thanks Eti!! We've been missing Fox here on the forum. I had assumed he was real busy and it sure sounds like my assumption was spot on. Please give him our best and let him know we'll be listening
