Have one!!!!
Have one in-life in 2008, in advance of the SLCC so plans and ideas can be taken to that one in a unified way. This forum is great but only a fraction of SL music folks are here. A representative board would carry more weight when dealing with LL. |

Hi Bibi,
I am already starting to plan for an SL Music Convention in London UK for Spring of next year. I have tentatively put the idea forward to a few people and so far the response is positive. I think it is very important we cover ALL aspects of Music in Second Life and as well as having the fun part.. DJ's Musicians etc it will be very important to get a some good panels and discussions going that we can include everyone and as many issues as possible on a global basis..
The Convention will be under the headings of Music, Media and Live Entertainment or similar...
I am currently looking for the download that will give me another 12 or so extra hours in my day to get this up and running, If anyone would like to volunteer their time and expertise I would LOVE to hear from you.

SL Music conference in London??? I am soooo there!!! I haven't been to London in AGES!!! Oh shit!! I think my passport may be expired Nevermind that, it's easy enough to fix!
I've never worked on coordinating such a thing and so have no idea what the tasks are...other than that there's tons of them!!!! So I cannot volunteer to take this on unless we want it to be a dismal failure. On the other hand, I'm a great little worker bee and will volunteer any time and service needed if an experienced leader type will step forward!!!
All that said, this may be much easier to do if we think of it as a working conference, on a MUCH different scale than the SLCC. Although parties are a whole lot of fun, I'll bet this crew will do just fine on their own without a bunch of organized stuff. And if they need help, I know some folks in London who really know how to PARTY!!!
Uh, after the work is done, of course _________________ Joy is in the ears that hear

| Wow, would love to make that trip! Any chance you'd consider having something in-world? Lots of us listened to as much as was possible at the recent SLCC but it was pretty bad. More than that, there was no way to participate!! |

i'm usually in chicago or barcelona, depending on the month, but i would love to help you out as much as i can. if you're planning this for spring, my company might even have some in-world tools for musicians at that point and maybe we could do a booth or something. (i'd say sponsorship but we're not exactly rolling in it at this point, haha.)
and any excuse to hit up london again is a good one, imho. _________________ Thaumata Strangelove (SL)

I am making some progress for June 2008 for the Music convention..
What I would like to have are some speakers and of course some musicians who are not from Europe involved.. preferably on a panel and experienced enough to answer questions in depth.
The conference will be aimed at ALL virtual platforms and will be covering not only LIVE music but also application and development of music in VWs.
As far as I see, SL Musicians seem to be leaders in the music industry for VWs and I would like to hope we can showcase some of you.
I wil keep you all posted as things progress

Does the line
"What I would like to have are some speakers and of course some musicians who are not from Europe involved"
mean you don't want European speakers and musicians?
I have personally spoken recently about SL at DScape 07, in an interview in Performing Musician magazine, and we have been invited to speak at Middlesex University. I'm sure there are plenty of other UK and European speakers and performers who could contribute in London, without flying people in from elsewhere.
That seems a little insane in these days when we should be limting air travel and utilising the virtual platforms we use to facilitate global events. |
