Has anyone tried to capture 1920x1080 resolution video from SL? If yes, what platform are you using for the capture and what software did you use to do it. Further, what kind of compute power are you putting behind it and how successful was the capture (i.e. was the frame rate acceptable, etc).
Here's how it'll go: I'll do the high-def capture and edits on the Monstro computer and then send it HD via the router over wireless to the AppleTV and that will present it on the big-screen. This is highly whizzy technically but there's a substantial compromise in video compression to make the video data small enough to transmit. The problem with validation is that I have no intention of buying a Blu-Ray DVD at $500 or whatever plus a Blu-Ray burner for the computer so this finally gets to the question of whether anyone out there is using Blu-Ray for this purpose now?
Keep in mind that I'll be sending at least a 5:1 audio stream with the video and I want that full-resolution (48K) as well. Typically for DVD you'll encode a stereo stream as well so there's a massive amount of data to be sent. I'm not sure if Logic can handle it but I'll step it up to 7:1 audio if it can.
I don't care if the roof leaks as the house only has to last a day longer than me so I'm trying to find out what's the best quality one can produce on a home system. _________________ Ever vigilant for da gooses overhead.
