Fyrm Fouroux reads Installment #02 (with 20 integrated songs) of his e-novel Harold Hake: the Neurotic Psychologist
Rastafairy Forrest stage - open ended event starting at noon on Sunday July 6th (might last two and a half to three hours)
I am about to do Installemnt #02 of my e-novel 'Harold Hake: the Neurotic Psychologist' at Hexx's Rastafairy Forrest stage (that is up into the woods from the Rastafairy beach venue). I did Installment #01 last month and this new episode will take place at noon SLT on Sunday July 6th.
Those of you who would like to get into this but missed Installment #01 can download it as a word file from my rl website:
http://www.lewismusic.co.uk/Harold/HHproject.html
I spent some talking with Hexx about the format for this event and the first one seemed to go very well, from the feedback of those who were there. I read the installment in small chunks of a paragraph or two at a time, and in between the chunks I sing a song and chat a bit. They are mostly my own compositions (with a small handful of covers thrown in). I do the whole show entirely in character as Fyrm Fouroux.
The way this works is that Fyrm was orginally Harold Hake's academic biographer. But while he was researching for the biography he spent a lot of time in the pub with Harold talking about his life more generally. Unknown to Harold, Fyrm later wrote a rather raunchy novel based upon Harold's real life, and it is this that he is reading now, without Harold's knowledge or consent. As I perform the show, I also improvise comments about the characters in the e-novel, through Fyrm's voice, and in this way I am able to go beyond the manscript of the novel and also to make links between the manuscript and the songs that I sing during the performance.
Last month, the show lasted about two and a half hours and I played approximately 20 songs embedded in the reading of the manuscript. The coming installment (#02) has a longer manscript for its basis than the previous one (#01) but I would think that I will complete the performance within roughly 2.5 - 3 hours, on the basis of my experience last month. Hexx has a brilliantly laid-back attitude to all this and lets the session unfold in a totallly open-ended fashion. To be honest, I can't think of anywhere in rl where I could attempt an artistic endeavour of this nature, and I can't think of a more suitable venue in SL than the Rastafairy Forrest stage.
I'm putting this up early so as to give folks a chance to download and read Installment #01, ahead of time. I'll bump it on Sunday, nearer the performance.

Good plan. I'll bump it on Saturday then, so everyone's got ample time to reschedule their other appointments for Sunday.

I'm just bumping this. I'm just going to take a nap before doing the Harold Hake project at Rastafairy at noon today. Hope to catch you if you can make it, folks. _________________ Real life website http://www.lewismusic.co.uk |

That was a great performance, Fyrm, right from the moment when the stream went up and you walked with the first guests across the bridge to the stage!
Aren't we Europeans lucky to be able to enjoy a quiet Sunday evening like this? _________________ Born Again Pagan | Lunatic Fringe Jammer

Thank you Hexx. I started on the trail up to the forrest at 8pm my time and two and a half hours later I closed with my final song at 10.30. I'm still slightly reeling from the experience. It was one of the most exciting live performances I've ever done in my life.
It's not just that we kind of pulled off something that felt a tad impossible before we started; I learned a lot from it (and I have been mulling over further creative possibilities all day). I don't think this is ever going to be most people's cup of tea; the number of folks turning up after fairly extensive publicity and bumping here testifies to that. But that select handful of artistically deviant avis who did turn up - I think I would say they were 'entranced' last night. I was performing to the top of my ability, I know that. _________________ Real life website http://www.lewismusic.co.uk |

That could very well be a matter of time. But you're right: it's definately not a mainstream thing!
