Second Life is a 3D virtual world that is more of a social networking environment than a MMORPG. It is becoming part of an exciting new music frontier - in fact in recent months the sl music scene has been booming with a wealth of new talent and bigger, newer platforms to perform. Using an internet radio stream, you can sing live to an international audience AND interact with them as well. This personal interaction is what makes SL music special.

For those of you who are just experimenting/practising/playing for fun:
SL has loads of open mic sessions run by various clubs for budding performers. For many venues - there are no commercial pressures - just the love of music. If you are a willing talent, you will find no end of places that wish to show you off.

For those of you who wish to promote an album/website/music:
SL is a cheap way to get your music out there and heard. Once you get set up and running, you can choose how often you want to play from the comfort of your own home. Apart from advertisements in the SL media - you will find promotions at little or no cost to yourself and many venue owners will be happy to help you with this.
The other advantage of using SL is the high amount of customization one can apply to an avatar - with the right expertise your avatar can look very close to you in rl - helping you establish a 'rl' presence in SL.

For those of you who wish to make some money:
Musicians in SL are ALL tipped and some are paid an additional fee on top of their tips. There is no set standard that applies to everyone. Linden dollars can be converted into RL cash using Lindex or 3rd party sites like SLX.
