| In an effort not to create competition, but to help contribute to the exposure of Live Music in Second Life, Virtual Venues shifts its Focus from Video Production and Venue/ Artist review , to the Live broadcasting of performances out of Second Life. the website www.virtualvenues.spruz.com will link to sites that are forming or in place to achieve the original objectives of Virtual Venues, but our own primary focus will now be putting on a quality , entertaining, and informative broadcast of live events to give those who have either not joined Second Life, or are unable to for whatever reason , a chance to attend the events via broadcast. Hopefully this will Motivate those who have not joined Sl to do so, and also may give exposure of the live experience to those who wish not to go thru the process of signing up and creating an avatar for the purpose of seeing what the scene is about. As watching a video clip is very different from experiencing a performance Live. There will be 1 event broadcast per evening, see the website for schedule, Outside of that schedule , contact me via the website if there is an event you would like to broadcast |

| Need to see if there is a true audience for it 1st. I will do an hour show each night , If you want 1 done in one of the scheduled time slots, won't cost anything, but outside of that current schedule, 2500KL for an hour show. Will have a host in world to make the viewer be able to feel part of the show by making requests that will be relayed to the inworld host. Have a paypal button on the site so with any luck in time can generate tips as well. |

2500KL as in 2,500,000L?? *looks for my calculator... I'm in the wrong business. _________________ "All Music is Noise, but not all Noise is Music." |

Go ahead and pimp yourself Let's get some details! At $2500L for a video for a show, you'll get gobs of requests for your services.
But don't sell yourself short. You're intending to provide what is currently a unique service. As we've seen ad nauseum in other threads, a performer for a paid gig typically gets $5000L. So you seem to be saying that you'll charge half what the performer makes in an hour to capture the video, use your skills to make it presentable on the Web, upload to YouTube (I guess...others as well?), etc.
This may look like selling out performers in suggesting you charge more but really it's not. If you charge a fair, sustainable price, you'll keep doing it and consequently you'll be around when others need your work. If you start high, you will see what the market will bear and can bring the price down accordingly. However, if you start low, you'll have a VERY tough time bringing the price for your services up.
You've also got to be sure you're presenting a professional product. If you're capturing the video at low resolution, it'll look like a pixel snowstorm after YouTube gets down butchering, I mean compressing, the video file. If you capture the audio from SL, it's going to be like a transistor radio compared to the original. Consider an extra-cost option in which the performer captures the audio during the gig and then sends it to you via youosendit.com or similar. (The file will likely be over half a megabyte)
Consider also perhaps a sliding scale on video quality. With the 'basic' video, you get a standard concert video with one camera pointing straight at the stage and with SL audio. With a 'premium' video, you could offer edits such as pans across the audience, option for custom audio and the like.
Also, you don't need to be cagey about the price. It'll get around anyway so might as well throw it out in the open. If people hoot at it here, then they probably won't take you up on it in-world so it might be helpful to try your ideas out here.
Dunno if others will disagree but I don't consider what you're doing to be spamming or anything of that nature. You're offering a new service that will likely be of high interest to many performers so launching it here seems quite appropriate. _________________ Silas Scarborough

Putting my mod hat on . . .
I haven't considered any of Producer's posts spammy or off topic and do find them appropriate offers of services some may find valuable. That's part of what we're here for. Though I do kinda wish he (she?) would step into the welcome area and tell us a little about him(her)self . It's not required of course, but I'm sure lots of us would like to hear more about you! _________________ Joy is in the ears that hear
