Hello all
Im holing Barakademis Memorial on Saturday and i was hoping to record the stream so people who don't make it could still listen and maybe even mail a link or something to Steve (baraks) mother and family.
Problem is i dont know where to start really.
I use simplecast to stream myself.. so though its an open mic.. it would be nice to record my part as well.
I downloaded a plug in for winamp called streamripper..and tried that.. but when i see the stream and start ripping i only have a start and stop button.. i dunno if the sound is being saved or not or if it is where its going.
Does anyone have any idea on how to do this at all? i would really appreciate the help.
HUGS

google a program called Audacity.
It's a free program that is more than capable of what you are doing.
Install it, pick up the stream (either in SL, or via the stream's address in Media Player, Winamp, etc), set the level in audacity so that the signal isn't 'clipping', and hit the big red button to record.
To save, File menu, 'Export as WAV', or 'Export as MP3'.
There are a million different ways to record the stream, but this is a relatively simple way with a pretty stable and affordable program. _________________ http://www.NorrisShepherd.com |

I have a solution for recording your own stream....use your BUTT!
Search for BUTT...on this forum I mean...search for BUTT and find the link where you can download it for free. I have recorded every show I have done in the last year using my BUTT and it works a treat. It has a built in ability to record what you are streaming. I used to use Simplecast and then I started using my BUTT and never looked back.
If you cannot find it then email me and I will send you a copy of my BUTT to play with.
When it comes to recording what someone else is streaming and you are just listening to then I am not so sure but then I am DRUNK and far too fond of BUTT jokes. _________________ http://www.djaiskjellerup.com

Hi Fable!
I know you can save your part using Simplecast. I have every show I've done saved automatically by using the Save Stream to File in the Archives tab of the Encoder Configuration.
But, that's only good for you. I don't know about the rest of the gang ... without doing something like Norris or DJai said on another computer .. and switching the stream as needed.
BUTT, hehe ... sorry Djai. If you are streaming the whole thing from one computer using Simplecast .. you should get it all in the Archive directory.
'course, I only just woke-up, found I forgot to set the coffee pot last night and now have to wait for it to finish and am just killing time and may not be awake enough to understand the problem. _________________ Ray

Probably too late, but...
I stream inworld using Reaper. This is a full-featured DAW with inherent streaming ability. As a DAW, it certainly provides for capturing your show to local disk - as .WAV, .mp3, Ogg, etc.
Interestingly, Reaper is the flagship product of a company called Cockos, which was founded by Justin Frankel. Justin is the inventor/developer of the ShoutCast protocol, upon which all SL music (indeed all internet radio) is based upon. He was also the developer of WinAmp, GnuTella, ...
Free to try, $60 to buy for a non-commercial license.

EDIT: non-functional link fixed _________________ http://KrellKaru.com
