More importantly, anyone have any idea about SL compatibility with Leopard?

I never, ever change operating systems the moment they become available. Too much can go wrong. Let someone else do the testing, know what I mean?

I'm interested in upgrading but not burning a path to the Apple store. My favorite recent O.S. change was the implementation of widgets. Was that a life-changing event or what? The best thing I hear about Leopard is speed increases all over the place so, yeah, I'll upgrade fairly soon.

Silas, you'll likely upgrade way before me (because I am what they call in technical terms a pussy). Please do let me know what you think after you get it.

I agree with you there Zak... why they keep messing with a good thing is beyond my comprehension!

Kori, I'm all for continuing to improve a product, and if there are real advantages to Leopard, I'll be all over it. However, if it's a pain in the ass in that it lacks compatibility or performance enhancements, it's just not worth it for a few cute features.

Keeping my eyes (and mind) open, though. Smile

I have not yet, but I am in the throws of purchasing a new Xserve fro work, and will be putting 10.5 Server on it - been waiting this purchase on that. I'll also be upgrading my work laptop, but may be holding off a bit on this one for my SL/Perfoormance rig.

NiceCast has a beta quality Leopard compatible version, and I'd rather wait for full release on that, since it's critical.

GB should certainly be OK, since I'm on GB4 from iLife '08

SL I've heard very mixed things about.

There are some great things (especially under the hood) in 10.5 but it'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

One word of caution, the APE framework, which is installed to hook into the OS at a low level can make an upgrade install go belly up if it's an older version. Apparently older Logitech "driver" software is one 3rd party who used the APE framework to make their fancy stuff work - I think on all my machines (and I use Logitech mice on all of them) I've just left the original system driver to handle the mouse. An archive and install or a "clean" install is reported to be fine.

ok it took two day before i was brave enough to open the box and install it on the mac, as yet i have only installed ilife and secondlife.

SL seem to work as 'well' as it ever has Laughing to me it seem the graphics run a bit smoother, but that might be because i haven bogged down the system yet with other stuff.

Ninjam booted ok, but i hadn't set up the port on the firewall, so didnt connect to the server , i will try it in the week. and nicecast when i get a chance.
