I've seen enough acts now to realize that while performing in second life, you're going to be animated during the entire gig when playing or not...
So my question is, when you buy a guitar, does the guitar come with the animations or is this something you buy separate? Also, animations for when you're just singing minus an instrument, is that built into the mic prop, or do you have to buy the animations separately?? Any info would be appreciated..
Also, any suggestions where to get better guitar with animations, pianos, etc, appreciated, as well... Thanks...
a while back Kujisawa posted in here, look at the bottom of main index."instruments for sale"...he got a shop inworld and the usual thing on Xstreet https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules...Marketplace&MerchantID=554849 And..they all FREE..good quality too ...AND go to his shop inworld, when u grab a guitar, inside the box ya also get..animation hud, face hud, guitar amp and a mic!!.. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/user/BBGumbo
You'll find there are a variety of options out there and that your best bet is to check out what folks are using and get recommendations like Blindboy's. Since his is pointing to a free object, go get it and see what you think. As you look around, you may find some quite expensive alternatives as well so be careful .
Ortho Vargas - Guitars, animations - Less-oriented to custom but excellent nevertheless
If one of them doesn't have your dream guitar, they can make it for you. It will cost you and it won't be fast but they can deliver.
There are others but Ortho and Myriam have made guitars for many of the best in SL. Even if you don't buy one, talk to them and look at their stuff. _________________ Blog | Twitter | YouTube | Live Video
Hi guys, thanks for your replies... At present I don't have a "dream" guitar in mind, but it's good to know that there are folks out there that will make a custom guitar for you... Blindboy, I'll check out these guitars and animations you mention, it sounds like great stuff...
Thanks for the head's up Tishe...
At some point I'll check out Myriam Beck's and Ortho's shop just to see their work... It's sounds like great stuff, and who knows, I may be inspired to buy one of their works.. Thanks Silas...
Bill Havercamp makes very accurate replicas of certain RL guitars. They lack the functionality and animations of the OD Design guitars but make up for it in highly detailed textures.
I play a Taylor Big Baby in RL and use Bill's Taylor 814 CE model. It's unmodifiable and I'm stuck with a single playing animation as soon as I wear it, so for an 'idle' guitar I use the KLP D-35 made by Krakov Letov. This is a more basic dreadnought acoustic guitar but comes with a free remote control hud for wearing the guitar on your back or putting it in an idle playing position.
One convention of guitar players on SL is that they wear the guitar on their backs just before it's their turn to go on stage. Not wanting to feel left out I got a guitar specifically for this purpose. I guess it helps to identify the next artist due to play. _________________ 'JamesCorachea' on SL
Gig schedule
Bill Havercamp (and his wife Pam) used to be regular performers in Second Life. Does anyone know where they've gotten to? Last I heard, it seems Bill was pretty sick. Any updates?
Hi James, thanks for the info... Since this post I have acquired a guitar and have been playing regularly on SL as a singer songwriter... It looks like some kind of Taylor cutaway... I usually just have the sign over my head that either says singer songwriter, or the clubs group header that says you're the artist for the club and allows you to set up your tip jar and things ike that...
And inasmuch as I don't remember who sold it to me (it's a regular instrument maker on SL) I'm happy with it and the animations... You could really go to town with the animations, but I don't use 1/20th of them because it's hard to do that while you're playing... One of the animations generations a plethora of hearts and I always forget to use it when doing a love song... In small doses, these things can be fun...
